Do you want a truly individualised, tailored introduction to jewellery making? Or are you already started and wanting to develop your skills further? From the studio I offer one day, two day and continuing one to one tutoring. I offer a number of different skills/techniques to focus on, and these can be developed in one or more sessions, these may include the following:

" Introduction to Silver Jewellery Making day (sawing/piercing, hammer texturing, shaping/forming, soldering)
" Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced soldering & construction techniques
" Focus on soldering, consolidation of technique and approach including chip & pallion, pick, seam and sweat soldering in all alloys (silver and gold)
" Introduction to synclastic and anticlastic raising
" Introduction to stone setting - bezel setting
" Intermediate stone setting - tube, flush and collet setting
" Texture, surface and form refresher - reticulation, keum boo, fold forming (among others)

Please do e-mail me to see how a day session can be tailored to your needs.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

Silver solder and small amounts of silver (i.e. to make a small set of earrings, small pendant or ring shank) are included in the costs of a day's tuition, as well as a light lunch and tea, coffee and homemade biscuits all day.

Students are encouraged to bring their own materials (i.e. gemstones, silver and gold) for larger projects and for intermediate and more advanced sessions. I can of course advise on where to buy materials, if needed, and can direct students to trade contacts to get the best deals on stones and bullion.

Want to review this course?

I completed a one day 1:1 jewellery making course with Jonathan and had the most excellent time.
If you have any physical limitations, Jonathan will be able to find ways to still make this course fully work for you and was so flexible and helpful.
Jonathan is fun, friendly, full of knowledge and has lots of great stories. By the end of the day it felt like we had known each other for ages.
I made 2 lovely rings on the day and Jonathan provided me with so much information in a pack and by email to make sure I had all information to hand to take jewellery making forward as a hobby-or much more for those with the talent!
I would recommend this course highly to anyone considering learning jewellery making. You will have a wonderful time and come away with some beautiful pieces.
P.s the ginger biscuits were amazing too!
Thank you again Jonathan!
