Limited course dates and each course will be for one student only, or if you are in a group "bubble" I can accept bookings for up to three people. As the situation is quite uncertain in terms of the long-term impact of Covid 19, and potential lockdowns, I will keep updating each student who has booked in as to the current situation.

Silver solder and small amounts of silver (i.e. to make a small set of earrings, small pendant or ring shank) are included in the costs of a day's tuition, as well as tea, coffee and homemade biscuits all day.
Students will need to bring their own lunch.
Students are encouraged to bring their own materials (i.e. gemstones, silver and gold) for larger projects and for intermediate and more advanced sessions. I can of course advise on where to buy materials, if needed, and can direct students to trade contacts to get the best deals on stones and bullion.

Jonathan is a very talented and knowledgable Jeweller, a wonderful teacher and a really lovely man. He made me feel very comfortable from the minute I arrived and provided yummy home made food and plenty of tea! From start to finish I enjoyed myself immensly and I strongly recommend this class to anyone with an interest in making jewellery at any level. Jonathan is really fun and very patient, he has a great work space and you will learn so much from him. Attending this course is one of the best choices i've ever made and I will be booking another session as soon as possible. Thanks again.
My partner and I combined a two-day silver jewellery making course and a one-day stone-setting course with Jonathan and had a fantastic time. We were both fairly new to the techniques taught but with Jonathan's expert guidance and wealth of knowledge we came away inspired to continue. Between us we made four rings, two pendants and a malachite necklace, all of which we were very pleased with, as were the friends and family we gave some of them to as gifts! Jonathan was incredibly friendly, helpful and a great teacher - and cooked us lovely lunches too! I am also very grateful for the follow-up information on where to buy materials and tools, as well as step-by-step worksheets which were very thorough. I would highly recommend the courses to anyone, whether beginners or those with some knowledge of jewellery making. Thank you again Jonathan - we will definitely be back for more!
I bought this experience for my mother-in-law and daughter for Christmas, so Jonathan had 3 generations in his Workshop! It was a great day, even more than I hoped for. Jonathan is a real delight so informative and a real good teacher/instructor. All credit to him for allowing each of us to work on bringing to life a piece of jewellery we imagined. The coffee flowed all day and I now have the recipe for the fabulous ginger biscuits, yum. Thank you for your patience and trust in us as novices.
I spent a couple of days with Jonathan and I must say that I enjoyed the two days immenseley. His welcoming friendly greeting sets you at ease immediately and his ability to pass on his skills is seond to none. I had been having difficulties with a few things but his patience and knowledge soon had these issues sorted. If you are thinking of a silversmithing course then do not hesitate to speak to Jonathan. I guarantee you will not regret it. A bottomless coffee jug and superb ginger biscuits combined with lunch are a very welcome bonus to a brilliant day.
Jonathan you are a star, thankyou.
Ps you have cost me a fortune.....My work bench seems to be sprouting new tools all the time.
A 5 star experience.
I completed a one day 1:1 jewellery making course with Jonathan and had the most excellent time.
If you have any physical limitations, Jonathan will be able to find ways to still make this course fully work for you and was so flexible and helpful.
Jonathan is fun, friendly, full of knowledge and has lots of great stories. By the end of the day it felt like we had known each other for ages.
I made 2 lovely rings on the day and Jonathan provided me with so much information in a pack and by email to make sure I had all information to hand to take jewellery making forward as a hobby-or much more for those with the talent!
I would recommend this course highly to anyone considering learning jewellery making. You will have a wonderful time and come away with some beautiful pieces.
P.s the ginger biscuits were amazing too!
Thank you again Jonathan!
I completed both a two day introduction to silver jewellery making and a one day stone setting course with Jonathan. These days were full of amazing instruction and practical demonstration - I was then able, under Jonathan's careful guidance, to create a pair of rings and a sapphire-set bangle: I am incredibly proud of all three of these (my wife and I have not taken the rings off since the day I made them! Jonathan's courses acre structured so that anyone, with any or no experience is able to access them with ease. Coming to these courses as a complete novice, I am pleased to say that I have been inspired with the confidence to take the craft further myself.
Jonathan himself is a font of knowledge, and it was amazing to be taught by someone who clearly has a passion for his craft. He was so giving of this knowledge and passion, and it was clear from the outset that he wants others to enter the trade (he wasn't selfish about it at all, but recognised the need for others to enter the profession).
The lists of tools and instructions he provides students with are a valuable source of information regarding starting up. It took me all of an hour after having left his workshop to buy my first tools and materials.
Thank you, Jonathan!
