This is a one day introduction to traditional millinery techniques, using sinamay which is the most commonly used material for occasion hats.
During the course of this workshop you will discover how versatile sinamay is. Skills covered will include making bias strips, leaves, flowers (including simple roses and lilies). Once these skills have been learnt, depending on time, you will either make a headpiece or fascinator. Other trimmings, including millinery netting or feathers can be included within your decoration. You will leave with everything that you have made on the day.
Based in my workshop/hat shop in the centre of Reading, Berkshire, you will get to experience a millinery business in action.
The skills you will learn on the day will also enable you to decorate pre-made hat shapes and bases.
Beginner/intermediate level, sewing skills preferred, but not required if you are keen to learn.
