Mosaic taster session @ White Stones Studios
Enjoy the ancient art of mosaic in a stunning contemporary location. At the heart of the Jurassic Coast lies the Isle of Portland. White Stones is a unique creative space, offering delicious food, local art, workshops and accommodation. David works from his studio in Portland producing unique hand finished sculpture in a variety of materials. His courses offer a modern, creative free approach to the ancient art of mosaic. Using improvised tesserae, students will be shown basic cutting and application techniques to create a personal abstract piece of mosaic art to take home. David is happy for you to bring along any small sentimental objects you may wish to try to incorporate into your mosaic artwork. Group workshops are run on either a Wednesday or Saturday but I can be flexible on both the date and the length of the workshop. Adjacent to the White Stones Workshop are three ECO designed Studio retreats. Why not make your creative escape even more relaxing and book in - please get in touch for details. We also have an onsite art cafe if wish to have lunch.

David works from his studio in Portland, Dorset producing unique mosaic sculpture and wall reliefs. He uses a combination of mixed Tesserae, ranging from glass tiles and Dismantled costume jewellery to broken ceramic tiles and semi precious stones. He delights in repurposing objects that would normally be stuck in a drawer for years or end up thrown away. You could say David is hooked on this ancient form of art and the beauty of Mosaic.
