About the Course

This is a fun and popular workshop, ideal for beginners! No sewing involved and you will go home with a gorgeous lampshade that you have created yourself!

During the workshop you will learn how to create a professional 30cm drum rolled edge lampshade using the fabric of your choice. Please bring with you a piece of fabric approximately 1m x 50cm. This allows for pattern placing. The fabric should ideally be light to medium weight cotton, no sheer nylon or heavy wool fabrics please. Alternatively I will have some fabrics available on the day to purchase.
Ginny has a lot of experience making lampshades and has exhibited at Scone Game Fair, Hopetoun House and the Assembly Rooms. She currently designs lampshades using free machine embroidery.

Be inspired, be creative! Ideal fun workshop for birthday parties, hen parties or simply learn a new skill!
Located just 20 minutes south of Edinburgh, surrounded by beautiful countryside, on our working farm in the cozy farmhouse, with tea and homemade cake - of course!!

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

Please bring with you a piece of fabric 1m x 50 cms. Everything else you need to make your lampshade is included in the price. Of course there will also be tea, coffee and delicious homemade cake!!

Additional fabric and lampshade making kits available on the day( at extra cost), so you can keep making them at home!!

My mum and I had a lovely morning with Ginny who was a very patient teacher! We came away with two lovely lampshades and inspired to make more.

Response from Sheep Shed:

Thank you! Lovely to meet both of you and hope you had a nice morning!

A very entertaining and fun way to learn a skill I didn't even know I could- under Ginny's expert (and very patient!) tuition I made my own lampshade and feel inspired to have a go flying solo at home with one of the kits I purchased!
Great chat, lovely people in a comfy informal setting with all the cake I could eat to keep the energy levels up. Highly recommend this and the best part is I now have the perfect shade for my living room and ideas for future projects.

Thank you Louise!

Fantastic workshop. Very relaxed and enjoyable. Ginny is great at explaining the steps and very patient. Help is at hand if needed but it is easier than you might think to create a lampshade even when like myself you don't think you are crafty!
