Kitchen Knife Making Course
This is a full day stock removal course (no forging) covering every aspect of making a unique chefs knife from start to finish. You will leave with your own bespoke kitchen knife that will serve you for a lifetime.
The blade you make will be from 80crv2 high Carbon Steel or equivalent. There are a variety of designs to for you to chose from, please see pictures for some examples. You can bring your own knife design, the maximum depth is 70mm and the maximum length is 330mm. There will be a selection of handle materials to chose from including kirinite, wood and antler (dependent of supplier availability)
No prior experience is needed and the course will cover:
- Selection of design, use of belt grinder to shape and bevel your knife
- Using the gas forge for Heat treatment
- Tempering of your knife
- Blade finishing, sharpening to 2000 grit and edge testing
- Making and fitting of the handle, pin options will include aluminium, carbon fibre, brass and copper
