Anticlastic and synclastic raising (sometimes called forming) is a technique to transform a single sheet of metal into an undulating organic form using only a hammer and stake. These techniques can create stunning shapes and have a wide range of applications in jewellery. The 1 day workshop looks at the basics of anticlastic/synclastic raising:
- Introduction to Basic tools and processes, including making your own tools
- Open and Closed form anticlastic raising preparation (piercing and soldering blanks)
- Open form synclastic raising
- Practice forming with copper blanks (preparation, forming and finishing)
- Making a silver anticlastic bangle and cuff/ring
Bespoke courses may also be pre-booked for a minimum of two participants. The course is suitable both for complete beginners and more experienced jewellery makers.
Please contact us for more information and bookings via the contact form above.
