About the Course
The Diploma is designed to offer comprehensive training for you to start a career within the upholstery sector. The course will provide you with an excellent level of practical skills and a understanding of the legal regulations and requirements of being a professional upholsterer.
All classes are limited to a maximum of 3 students ensuring you have a high level of tuition and minimal waiting time for guidance.
The diploma course duration is a minimum 8 week/40 day course and runs from 9.30am-4.30pm and must be completed within a 12 month period. Classes run continually throughout the year giving you the flexibility to choose your start date and day/s you wish to book.

Machine sew a zipped, piped box or T shaped cushion
French Polish show wood
Single & Double Piping & Hand made trimmings
(**If you prefer, you may work on a project chair in place of the supplied frames)
Health & Safety - working with tools & equipment in the workplace
UK's furniture & Furnishings (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988 relating to domestic furniture and furnishings
Martindale abrasion test.
Correct use of tools and equipment, hand & mechanical tools
Upholstery Fillings & Materials - appropriate use of
Cutting Plans & Pattern Matching
Understanding frame repairs
For the duration of the course each student is required to compile a record of their practical and theory work to include:
Health & Safety awareness
Description of processes
Sketches & photographs of processes
Materials used for each process and suitability
Tools used for each process and suitability
Basic design, cutting plans and fabric calculations
Course fees & Payment Schedule
A non-returnable deposit of £350.00 is required at the time of booking.(fee for week 1)
Additional payments of £700.00 will be payable in advance for the next 10 days of the course (weeks 2/3, 4/5 6/7)
Final payment of £350 in advance for week 8
