About the Course

Design and weave your own unique fabric with particular focus on colour selection, texture and pattern creation. Dress your loom and weave!

Join us for this 3 day relaxed creative workshop to learn how to design and weave your own unique fabric focusing on colour, texture and pattern, dress a 4 shaft table loom. All this will take place in a bright purpose built workshop with adjoining accommodation available at our historic property, Lanehead, complete with stunning views overlooking Coniston Water and the mountains.

Day 1 - focus on choosing a weave pattern and planning a warp, selecting the right balance of colour and texture

Day 2 - by the end of the day your loom will be dressed and you will commence weaving

Day 3 - a full day of weaving and learning all the finishing techniques

This course is perfect whether you’re a complete beginner and would love to have a go, or if you already know some basics, maybe set your own loom up and woven some patterns. Jan will guide you through the whole process, provide you with tips, tricks and techniques to ease your path into weaving in a relaxed learning environment.

Jan has over 30 years experience in the textile field working in Higher Education running a Constructed Textile Resource in Cumbria until 2010 when she decided to concentrate full time on making and exhibiting her own work. Jan designs and makes contemporary woven textiles for fashion, interiors and accessories. Much of her work involves experimenting with different weave structures to see how they distort when manipulated and felted to create individual handcrafted pieces.

If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
