My husband and I have had a very enjoyable and informative weekend. We had the opportunity to practice a wide range of techniques and learnt everything we need to know to continue with our new found hobby at home.
Excellent course, excellent teacher, would definitely recommend it.

Just spent 2 great days on Jonathan's silver jewellery course. After a thorough introduction to a range of skills, we were given lots of hands-on experience, encouraged and supported by Jonathan. On day 2 we each made a ring to our own design, and then in the afternoon completed our own silver project with guidance from Jonathan. The pace of the course was perfect, as was Jonathan's teaching style. Finally we were given advice on how to proceed with our individual silversmithing journey: we've all signed on for more! A huge thank you to Helen for the endless supply of delicious biscuits, tea, coffee and lunches.
An excellent course!

What was amazing ( besides the legendary ginger biscuits ) ( and the lunches ) was how much we packed into these 2 days, not just in terms of practical work, but also the amount of knowledge Jonathan gave us. The three of us on the course not only came away with a ring we had each made ( and now wear very proudly ! ), but also something we had personally chosen and designed - a pendant, ring, and torq in our cases. This means you come away with the enormous satisfaction of making something you want, yourself, and having the knowledge ( and comprehensive notes ) on how to progress beyond that into silversmithing as a hobby or career. Jonathan not only has vast experience and skill, but also the empathy and ability to give his students the confidence to believe they could do really well in the future if they want to. As you can probably tell, I was impressed.....!

I had a fantastic time during Jonathan's two-day course! I enjoyed every second of it - the weekend was fun, informative and practical. I love jewellery making and I will definitely continue silver-smithing now I have begun. I have had so many compliments on the three pieces I made and this was because Jonathan was only too happy to share his skills and techniques. You will not regret booking this course!

This two-day course is fabulous! Jonathan is so knowledgeable and the pace of the course was perfect with plenty of time for questions and extra attempts if we needed them. The sense of accomplishment is fantastic - I went as a complete beginner and can't believe what I achieved under Jonathan's expert tutoring. If you've ever wanted to try something like this, don't wait any longer - I have already started recommending the course to others. Thank you Jonathan, I've absolutely got the jewellery-making bug.

Brilliant. Jonathan provides a relaxed, informal atmosphere which put us all at ease. The teaching materials and discussions created a detailed course with enough info to get you started as a hobbyist or indeed to start up small scale production.
The course was well structured and thorough, yet felt like spending a couple of days relaxing and having fun.
The food was delicious, and thoughtful touches like homemade biscuits point to the care taken.
I enjoyed it so much I'm signing up for the stone setting course....

I had a wonderful time on Jonathans’s two day course and would really recommend it to anyone considering this as an introduction to silversmithing. Jonathan is an excellent teacher and really patient to answer all my questions, giving just the right amount of support. I have left feeling confident in techniques and a good knowledge of choosing the right tools to invest in. We enjoyed homemade flapjacks and lovely lunches with plenty of fun and laughter too. I look forward to booking a further course with him.

I booked this course for myself and two friends some time ago. Finally the weekend arrived and we rocked up in Ely for our course. We could not have had more fun. What an EXCELLENT weekend. Not only were we all really pleased with what we made, but the quality of teaching was superb, the laughs had us doubled up and the constant supply of tea/coffee, biscuits and cake, not to forget the lovely lunches was amazing. We could not have wanted for more and were really thrilled with the whole weekend. Highly recommended. Thanks to Jonathan and Helen. xx

I discovered Jonathan’s courses via an internet search around a year ago. I’m so glad I took the plunge and went for it eventually. The two days went by so quickly - we had great fun and covered lots during our time working together. I came away with a beautiful silver ring and pendant, plus a copper pendant. Lunch was fabulous - even catering for my special dietary needs with no problems. Plus there was plenty of tea, coffee and flapjacks throughout the weekend! I’ve definitely discovered a new interest and can’t wait until the two day stone setting course I’m enrolled on later this year. If you’re interested in making silver jewellery, sign up on one of Jonathan’s courses - you won’t regret it!

I have wanted to have a go at Silversmithing for years and so glad that i finally did it. I had a fantastic 2 days which covered a lot. We got to try out lots of different tools and were given a handout with lots of information on what to buy to get started. I made a pendant some earrings and a spinner ring over the weekend. It gave me the confidence to invest in some tools and I look forward to doing further courses with Jonathan.

I had the most amazing class ever. Jonathan gave us the knowledge and practice to get started with silver jewlery makibg and we all achieved to do quite a lot of items in a very short time. He was also very kind to stretch the class so we could finish our projects. In addition, the food and treats were delicious. Jonathan and his fiancée were very welcoming and positive! Merci beaucoup

Loved every minute of this course. I have long wanted to learn how to make jewellery and this was the first step to realising that ambition. Jonathan made it all so achievable and with the small group size was able to give everyone plenty attention and 1:2:1 time.
I completed a ring and a pair of earrings both of which have received positive comments.
Jonathan’s advice on equipment and starting out is practical and the printed information he provided is helpful and relevant.
In conclusion I would whole heartedly reccommed this course to anyone interested in jewellery making.

Loved every minute of the two days of my course with Jonathan, an excellent teacher who made it so much fun. The weekend was filled not just with learning the essential skills of silversmithing, but also a lot of laughter as he (and his wife) have created a warm, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere at the studio. I managed to make three beautiful pieces of silver jewellery, including one piece made from silver we melted down from some old silver rings which I had got in a mixed auction lot some two years ago ~ and am deeply inspired to carry on making more. Friends and family who have seen my pieces have been full of praise, but really, the praise goes to Jonathan for making it possible for me!

What a great course. Really hands on and loads learnt in such a short time. Jonathan is a great teacher and has helped make what once felt so daunting feel so doable (with a little practice). Definitely got the jewellery bug.

I had a fantastic time on this 2-day course, which exceeded my expectations!
From the moment I arrived, I felt very welcome by Jonathan and his partner, who very kindly provided refreshments and homemade cakes and food during the 2 days.
Jonathan is very enthusiastic and clearly communicated his passion for jewellery making. He is a very detailed, in-depth and clear teacher, and takes time to spend some one-to-one time with each person. He is very generous with his time and in sharing his knowledge, and also provides some very useful fact sheets as well as recommendations for tools, materials etc.
I was delighted with the pieces I made during the course and got to take home, and they have been admired by friends and family!
He has given me the bug and I look forward to taking this new knowledge forward and making silver jewellery.
I highly recommend this course, and I personally look forward to taking another course with Jonathan.

Great from the word go. Booking the course online was really easy and the information sent through about the course was just right. The 2 days spent in Johnathan's workshop were brilliant. The learning was well structured and we covered lots of key skills for making silver jewellery. Johnathan is a wonderful teacher with so much knowledge and great ambassador for silversmithing and jewellery making. His passion for his art is infectious, so be prepared to get the bug. I'm keeping my eyes on the next course coming up later in the year.

I did Jonathan's two day course and thoroughly enjoyed it, learnt a lot and came away full of ideas and enthusiasm! Jonathan is full of information, very patient, accommodating and inspiring. Plenty of tea and coffee with home baking, lovely lunches, very nice atmosphere, paced to suit each individual (there were three of us), informative, and brilliant to come away with some finished pieces to enjoy. Excellent follow-up too. Highly recommend.

Well, I am very pleased that I went onto the 2 day silver jewellery making course which took place at Jonathan's studio in Ely. The group consisted of three people including myself and it felt intimate and it allowed me to learn more, ask questions and get alot done. One thing that stuck out more than anything was the help and support of his lovely partner who was supplying us teas and coffees and lunch. They both complimented eachother and that made a lasting impression on me. I am planning to do a few more courses in the new year, and I will definitely recommend this course to anybody who is looking to learn how to make silver jewellery.

I can highly recommend spending time with Jonathan. His infectious enthusiasm for his craft, his patience and expertise at introducing and guiding us through skills we had never realised we could achieve and his gracious hospitality are just a few reasons why you should book yourself onto one of his courses. Myself and a friend spent 2 days on Jonathans Silver making course, at his home Studio in Ely, and not only came away with 2 pieces of Silver Jewellery that we are now the proud owners and wearers of but we learnt so much in such a short time about a craft we had absolutely no knowledge of let alone any experience of participating in. We left feeling confident enough to start making our own Silver Jewellery and we both look forward to putting our newfound knowledge to good use.

Jonathan provided a wonderful supportive and fun learning experience . He shared his experience and skills with great enthusiam , patience and generosity . The two days gave time to look in more depth at the various techniques and how they can be used to create a piece of jewellery that is your own creation. There was a good mixture of hands on experience and informative 121 tutoring in using materials and tools. The information sheets were extremely comprehensive and I left full of ideas , three beautiful pieces of jewellery and a desire to take my new found craft further.

I had a wonderful time on this course. Jonathan is an excellent teacher, we all had a great deal of fun as well as learning a lot of techniques. I managed to come away making 3 pieces of beautiful jewellery, I have definitely got the bug and shall continue to persue my new found love of silversmithing. I really hope to join Jonathan again on another one of his courses or some one on one tutoring in the future.
