About the Course
BA Hons Degree Jewellery Designer Sarah Madsen offering a beginners workshop to hand make your own Ring in Sterling Silver. We will be using a 10 or 12mm Round Cabochon stone for your ring. This can be 6 hr day class or over a couple of 3 hours sessions. You will learn to saw, file, hammer, solder, polish and make and set your own ring. No experience necessary as I will guide you throughout the whole process:)
*If you wish to use other stones, I will have to say not on this first attempt. Stones come in a variety of hardness and cut. Most stones have some sort of flaws which can be a huge issue, especially for the beginner. I strongly recommend trying the project described as above for the first time.
I offer a variety of colours of stones to choose from for your first ever piece:)
The 6 hour class is designed for a one to one experience 0r 2 students.
(If 2 people would like to do this together, it would be a good idea to allow 7 hour day or 2 x 3/4 hour approx sessions.)
Mornings or afternoon sessions are also available between 10am - 6pm hours.)
£165 each person.
All day 6 hour Class usually start from 10 am - 4 pm. 12 pm -6 pm, (all year) Summer months can run classes up to 9pm.
After all your hard work, you go home with your very first ring set piece of Jewellery plus class information of methods and tools used.

Had a fantastic day with Sarah. I've never done anything like this before and was nervously excited, Sarah made me feel relaxed and confident in what I was doing and explained things in a simple and not too technical way for me. I never realised what actually went into making a ring with stone setting and never thought in a million years I'd make one with a garnet stone. I've also picked up soldering skills as well! At the end of the session Sarah gave me a written brief of what we had done and I was amazed I had done all that.
Well worth the money, excellent teacher, had so much fun as well. Thank you Sarah x

I really enjoyed this class. Sarah is great at setting you at ease and giving you the confidence to get hands on straight away. She's encouraging and patient and is clearly a very creative and knowledgeable jeweller. She did warn me that it's addictive and from the very start I was hooked.
I will be recommending her and her courses far and wide and will certainly be back for more.
If you want to get stuck straight in without having to attend hours of night school and want a fun, creative afternoon or two, I would highly recommend Sarah. It's a real blast being able to wear your beautiful piece of jewellery home.
