Kate reviewed: Introduction to fused glass

"Me and my bestie did the intro to glass fusing at the weekend, neither of us had done it before but Katherine was really helpful, explained everything and gave us some ideas to get going. In no time we had a design going and were on a roll, we totally zoned out and lost ourselves in the creativity. We had a great time, felt really at ease and excited to see our finished designs. I’ve booked to take my mum and niece and my best friend is looking to take her sister and her daughters. Great afternoon and great value for money. Thanks Katherine :-) "

number8glass responded:

"Thank you so much for the lovely review Kate and I really look forward to welcoming you back into the studio soon. "

Carolina reviewed: Bowl or Kuksa Carving Workshop

"I just wanted to say thank you to Tim for such an enjoyable lesson. I have never worked with wood before (apart from a little foray into DIY!) so as someone that did not know much about wood, I feel like a learned a lot, even in just one day. Tim was friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable. I was completely at ease in the class and I went home with a kuksa bowl and a new hobby. I would 100% recommend this course."

The Green Wood Guild responded:

"Hi Carolina, Thanks so much! It was lovely to meet you and I hope to see you on another class soon! :) All the best Tim"

Jude reviewed: Beginning spinning

"My second course with Cath and, again, I thought her teaching was excellent. The day was well organised and we had plenty of opportunity to practise spinning as well as learning more about setting up the wheels etc. We also had the opportunity to try the different wheels that Cath has in her workroom (very useful if you are considering buying a wheel). I would certainly recommend this course."

"Jules was an absolute delight! My children gave me a two day course for my birthday. I made a sea glass pendant as well as a cuff with sea glass, I was amazed at how well they both turned out. Jules talked us through every stage of the process, she was kind, patient and helpful. The workshop was well kitted out and Jules a lovely host. I couldn't recommend her highly enough. If you're a sea glass addict like me it was the perfect way to spend a weekend. Thank you x"

Tony Quinn reviewed: Foot stool making day

"I have just completed the foot stool making day. The whole experience was very enjoyable and you actually get to make something that you can be proud of and take home. If you are are interested in woodworking this is a great way to learn how to use hand held and machine tools to make something from a design and templates out of solid oak. The tutor Ted is very friendly, helpful and patient as you work through each stage of the work in progress towards completion. I can highly recommend Ted and this day course on woodworking."

Teds Woodworking/ instrument making Courses responded:

"Thanks Tony I really appreciate your kind words and our chat on art. Hope the stool comes in handy and looks forward to seeing you on another course my friend. If you get chance go see the paintings in the Lady Lever Museum. Kind regards Ted "

Moya Fitzpatrick reviewed: Dressmaking with Kirstie Combe at The Viking Loom Ltd York

"Back again! This time to make a toile. I am making a jacket which I have put off for years after having some doubts about my abilities. Here was the opportunity to really learn a few new things. However, a great deal of time and patience was required of the tutor. I certainly got that in spades. Anyway, I've been guided along and now feel yes, I think this is actually going to work out. I will definitely be back if only to get help with the pockets!"

The Viking Loom Ltd responded:

"hi Moya . delighted you are feeling positive now about your project . it is certainly shaping up well . i have ordered a paper shade card for the maraflex gutermann threads so will ring when here . i have found some 25mm pink plastic toggles to order if you are stuck . best regards romy ."

Tony T reviewed: Bladesmithing Experience Day

"An absolutely great day. Graham, David and Decklan guided us through the processes. Firstly describing the process, demonstrating each step then keeping a watchful eye as we were let loose on the tools. The day was well paced and at no point were you put under any pressure. Lunch was supplied as was a good supply of friendly banter. At the end off the day you get to come away with a knife you have made. A truly fantastic day, if you have any aspirations of hitting a hot thing with a large cold thing on a big chunk of metal then this is for you. Treat yourself or better still get some one to buy it for you!!"

Clarke Knives responded:

"We're all glad you enjoyed yourself so much. We hope to see you again sometime ☺☺☺"

Alison B reviewed: Basic blacksmithing course

" Being Forged in Fire fans, I was disappointed that though many reviews said they created knives etc on the 1 day basic course, Gary said that was not possible. However, Gary was kind and reassuring in our emails regarding my daughters special needs and I was able to assure her the tutor was also on the spectrum so would understand and help her through the course. Sadly, on the day he called in to his assistant to say he was too tired to attend and so left us unexpectedly with his assistant Joss. Joss was very patient and we had a lovely day and my daughter created a fabulous letter opener but it was upsetting that we had to explain the issues again and we also had some language barrier issues but as I say Joss was very patient and a great teacher, especially given that he had not expected to be teaching the course that day. He was kind enough to let us parents stay to watch all day and we really appreciated that opportunity. The forge was very cold and facilities extremely basic but overall it was a fascinating day and great experience and my daughter created an amazing piece thanks to his patient instruction. "

Judith reviewed: Adventures in book binding with Ali Reeve

"An intense information packed day showing different techniques for this craft, taught well by the obviously experienced Ali who is thorough and patient. Done at a manageable pace despite the intensity ,resulting in the take home finished books which as Ali explains are reminders and references for use at home to have another go. A very enjoyable day at a very reasonable cost. Thankyou very much. "

Stamps Away responded:

"Thank you, it was wonderful to see you and I hope this is the start of a fabulous book binding journey and we hope to see you again soon."
