Tom reviewed: Make Your Own Shavehorse – Green Woodworking Course in South Wales

"I had a very enjoyable 2 days with Celi learning how to make a shavehorse and learning how to use froes for splitting logs, axes for wood removal, drawknife for shaping parts, pole lathes for turning. It was a very safe and supportive atmosphere, all mucking in to help each other as the deadline approached, plenty of tea to keep us from flagging. I would recommend Celi and her courses in the woods"

Peter A reviewed: Mig Welding For Beginners Introductory Day Course.

"FANTASTIC! I lost all my confidence decades ago when failing to get started with ARC welding. This experience under the expert guidance of Tony was a revelation and within hours I was capable of producing some pretty good results that I was proud of. I learnt a huge amount and we even managed to complete some delicate spot welds on really thin section steel which was my ultimate goal. Can’t thank Tony enough, and highly recommend this amazing 1 on 1 tuition…great equipment as well."

Newport Wrought Ironwork responded:

"Thank you Peter for the great review i very much appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the welding and will continue to develop your skills in the future when you get your own equipment. Please feel free to contact me if you need any further help. Regards Tony "

Colin Austin reviewed: Beginners Pyrography Course

"The Pyrography course with Tilia Holmes was informative and enjoyable, and I'm glad I went. It was bought for me as a birthday present, and it was well worth the journey to Dorset (I live in Bude, Cornwall, so I booked a weekend away to attend). The setting – in an art gallery with inspiration all around – was great. Tilia was very casual and easy-going. She put everyone at ease and gave each individual as much attention as they needed. She set quite challenging tasks, that we could each meet at the level of our abilities and experience, then guided everyone to achieve really good work. All in all it was a fun and thoroughly enlightening course, and everyone left feeling not only that they had achieved a really high standard of work on the day, but wanting to continue to do so after getting home. "

Tilia Holmes Art responded:

"That's so great to hear, thank you Colin! Really nice to meet you, and I am very pleased you enjoyed the day."

I will be showing it off to anyone who comes around the house from now. Ted was great fun, knowledgeable, skilful and very patient with us. I learned a lot from the course and used some skills I haven’t used for a long time, which made the day special. Thank you Ted and I hope to see you again one day."

Catherine reviewed: Kiln Fired Enamelling with Katie Sanderson. Half day workshop

"4 best friends, all first timers at enamelling, came together as a birthday half day with Katie. We had a super time and each made different enamelled pieces with Katie’s tuition and support. I would recommend this workshop wholeheartedly, and if we get the chance we are going to do the full day next time. The three hours absolutely flew by; Katie is a patient and encouraging teacher…if you want to try something new with take home items, just go for it…money well spent."
