"My husband arranged the lesson as a surprise for me as my childhood crochet skills were rusty to say the least. Ann is so patient and explained everything in such a practical way. I wanted to make a granny square blanket as we had these as children made by my Nana. Ann started me off with some brilliant printed instructions and practical help. I have now started a new square at home and am looking forward to it growing into a blanket. I also looked up a pattern for a Christmas star which I can now follow thanks to Ann. I think my family will all be receiving crocheted gifts this year. Thank you so much Ann, it was lovely to meet you and I hope to have a more advanced lesson once I have more fully mastered the basics."

"A patient and knowledgeable teacher, Philip gave me confidence in tackling my very first upholstery project. The intimate group of beginners came with very different pieces to work on. Philip shared his expertise and everyone gained so much seeing the various challenges each person faced at the various stages of upholstery. We covered many aspects within the two days. Already looking for my next project and will be returning for more classes."

"A great day - I still proudly display the poker in our lounge and have the sculpture I made in our garden. I was delighted and surprised by what I achieved in a single day and thanks go to John and his team for making the day so memorable and productive! I am not hands on and making things has not been a great success for me in the past - all that has changed! Great value for money and a wonderful new experience - go!! I normally flag by late afternoon - but not here on this day!"

"I thoroughly enjoyed my day being a blacksmith and learning some basic techniques. It was tiring as its quite physical but very rewarding. I came away with 2 large pieces which I am very proud of. John and his team are great teachers and incredibly helpful. I would recommend it to anyone interested in doing something a bit different."

"My blacksmithing day was the result of a surprise birthday present from my son and daughter. I had a terrific time being taught how to make a scroll key ring and dragon coat hook by Adrian and the irrepressible Andy whose sense of humour kept us all amused the whole day. Frankly, I've never know a day fly-by so quickly. Food and drink was served all day including a lovely hot meal at mid day by Debbie. Thank you all very much for such a great day . "The course was well paced. Starting in the morning with a simple task (poker) that got all the attendees warmed up and on a similar level. Mid morning we started on the more complex project piece. Assisted by John and the team throughout. At a suitable point we broke for lunch and a chance to discuss the project piece and question john on his smithing experience. Back to the forge we continued to work on our individual pieces. The course completed late afternoon, everyone had finished their project. With Johns assistance and finesse we each had a piece of work to be pleased with. Great day with enjoyable company."

"Less than a year later and I’m back again from Australia for another 3 days of high quality design and mould making along with great company. I love Ed’s new studio in the Old Spode factory. Ed’s ability to convert a concept into a plaster mould of the highest quality is sensational. His attention to detail and the quality of his work is fabulous, while at the same time sharing his knowledge and giving me skills that I can use in the future. All this and it is delightful to spend time in his company. Good coffee, great chats and high quality work. I’ll be back again soon! Thanks Ed"

"I attended the gypsy basking weaving course with Sally Anne. I found Sally Anne to be not only very welcoming but very easy to chat to and get along with. Her home is absolutely beautiful and so are the many willow crafted items around the place. I thoroughly enjoyed myself making my basket and Sally Anne was a great teacher. I am already considering what course to do with Sally Anne next!! :)"

"A wonderful break in a fabulous location complete with an inspiring mosaic workshop. Dawn welcomed us and settled us into our rooms in her beautiful home. The house is amazing and there are lots of examples of Dawn's own mosaics on display. From beautiful splashbacks in each en - suite, to mirrors, pictures and cabinets. We were able to choose which design we'd each like to mosaic and dive into a wonderful array of mosaic tiles in lots of colours and finishes. Dawn explained how to cut the tiles and create any shapes we wanted for our designs. It felt so relaxed and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. A scrumptious home made spinach pie with salad and a crisp, cold glass of wine rounded off a busy morning. We'd also devoured a beautiful home-made lemon and fresh cream cake for elevenses! On the second day we grouted our mosaics and simply couldn't believe what we had achieved. The breakfast was gorgeous too with lots of local produce cooked to order and succulent home-made jam and marmalade (it's a bonus that Dawn used to be a chef) A highly recommended workshop at an unbelievable price. I can't wait to try and get back for another break! Thanks to Dawn (and Ollie), we arrived as strangers and left as friends."
