Roger Morse reviewed: Woodcarving for beginners - two day course in Suffolk

"I was pleased to be able to restart wood carving on my retirement having been an occasional carver. Gerry is a very supportive teacher with the emphasis on guiding and encouraging everyone to 'do it on their own' which increases the confidence of each carver. The mutual class support is also helpful. It is clear to me everyone enjoys their weekly class and we are all more confident carvers from our tuition. Always a most enjoyable part of my week."

"I really enjoyed my days screenprinting session with Caroline, she taught me step by step how to expose my screen and prepare for print, and provided me with all the details so that I can do it at home. A really enjoyable, hands-on day which massively helped me to refresh my knowledge and learn lots of new tips and techniques. Really useful if you want to freshen up your skills in a friendly one to one environment, highly recommended!! And really happy with my print!"

Debs Stourton reviewed: Introduction to stone setting 2 day course

"Three of us arranged a bespoke date for the 2 day course with Jonathan and what I can say is that it was a fabulous, informative and inspiring two days. Aside from the great introduction to stone setting that it gave us, we also learned a lot about gemstones themselves. I had no idea that there were so many options and cuts available and Jonathan shared his in-depth knowledge with us and gave us great advice on buying stones, as well as different types available. He provided in depth worksheets/information guides as well as ring sizing, carat weight and gemstone charts (nicely laminated for a mucky workshop!) that I think will be invaluable in future, for both revision and general use. I can speak for us all in that we can now go ahead with confidense with basic stone setting, the process has been demysitified, and with this wonderful workshop as a solid grounding feel far more able to stone set as a part of our jewellery making attempts! Thoroughly recommend the course and the teas and coffee and biscuits and great lunches were a definite bonus too. five"

Joanne Bibb reviewed: Beginners Dressmaking - Learn to sew a dress in a day in Wokingham

"I absolutely loved this course. To be able to complete a project in one day is great rather than commit to a few hours over several weeks. I was so proud of my dress afterwards and ordered more material that same week to make another dress. Sheona is so patient and explains things very clearly. I have been bitten by the dressmaking bug and hope to do another one of Sheona's classes."

Ben Angus reviewed: A Practical Dry Stone Walling Workshop Central London

"What a fantastic hands on day, building dry stone walls (dsw) in a lovely community park in south London. our expert teacher, John, gave us an insight into the art of dry stone walling. Straight away we got into working with the materials and the tools and discussed the history, theory and techniques of DSW. I would really recommend getting involved in this course. It has given me knowledge and an appreciation of the art and skill of dsw, and I look forward to looking out for these great structures be they on the British hillside or even (as we found out) supporting the terraced soils of Tuscan orchards!"

Emma Hayes reviewed: Introduction to sewing course for complete beginners! (am & pm Courses)

"I've wanted to start making my own clothes for a while but didn't know where to start, I decided to do the beginners class and glad I did. It was also fun and was great to meet new people. Sheona was very nice and knowledgeable and will certainly be recommending sewisfaction to anyone interested in getting started or already creating their own pieces Emma x"

Eve Young reviewed: Beginners Course in Blacksmithing @ Hot Milk Forge

"I attended a one day knife making course and it was excellent. I had never tried anything like this before but finished the day with a knife that I am proud of. Eamonn is an excellent teacher, really patient and explains to you how to do things and lets you get in on with it rather than just taking over, this means you learn more and you really feel that you made your item. The class numbers are small so ideal for working and learning. I would definitely recommend Eamonn's courses and I hope to be back."

Lindsey reviewed: Realistic and Adorable Needle Felt Animals & Pets

"I attended my very first needle felting course with Sophie on Saturday and what a truly wonderful day it was too!!!! The location of her studio is idyllic and the day was spent with a group of lovely ladies making a range of felted animals. With Sophie's enthusiasm, skill and encouragement we all created our own precious "masterpiece" - something that I certainly did not imagine I could or indeed would achieve!!! To top the day Sophie's lovely mother provided the most amazing lunch for us all. I would recommend Sophie's workshops to anyone who is eager to learn needle felting - you will have a perfect day!!!"

"Jolene is very patient and helpful as we designed and constructed our pieces. Plenty of refreshments. K Henderson reviewed: Woodcarving for beginners - two day course in Suffolk

"I have been a student of Gerry's for five years and have completed both regular woodcarving sessions and a beginner's chair-making course. Gerry mixes both structured and flexible classes, allowing you to progress from your own starting point, whether this is a beginner or more experienced carver. There is the option to do 'set pieces' to develop different carving techniques, where Gerry takes you through a step-by-step process or to choose your own piece to work on, where Gerry provides individual tuition and coaching. Gerry advises you on woods and chisels to buy if you want to work at home as well, or provides use of his own tools, if you are not sure you want to set yourself up just yet. I would highly recommend Gerry's courses, as both educational, social and enjoyable."

Laurie Janicker (Reverend) reviewed: Woodcarving for beginners - two day course in Suffolk

"I have been one of Gerry's weekly students for several years. His talent and work is truly astounding and must be seen to be believed. Just check out his website. Gerry is an excellent teacher - expert, patient, courteous, long-suffering, painstaking, intelligent, humorous - and provides some not too bad coffee, to boot. There is nothing he cannot make - and also teach and help you to make it too. I am astounded at the progress that even a novice like me has achieved thanks entirely to him. His classes are always fun and we always have some good laughs. Try him - he won't disappoint."

"I just did a weekend stone sculpture course and I'd never done anything like it before. I found it a very good introduction, and in a wonderful setting, if very basic facilities. Jo yes, Jo reviewed: Nuno felt a silk scarf in fine merino wools and silks with Judi Binks

"Lovely days felting course. It was friendly and relaxed and yet it stayed totally on subject so it didn't feel like there was time or energy wasted at all. We were well guided and given all the supplies we could need. I was really pleased with both pieces I made (one in the morning one in the afternoon) and ended up buying some fleece to do more at home as a result it was that much fun. Looking forward to attending the november course, would love to do the september one but I'm working that day."
