I had inherited a lathe from my father who gave me a 2 hour lesson about 10 years ago. The lathe has been in bits in my garage ever since.
I took a 2 day course with Andy in order to give me the impetus and the confidence to attempt assembly of the lathe and to get on turning. Andy has achieved this with his great experience but more importatntly with his very friendly and flexible approach to his client's needs.
We sharpened correctly turning tools which I had taken with me and then proceeded to turn firstly a small rolling pin and then a beautiful bowl.
The whole experience was uplifting from the beautiful rural location to the treasure chest of tools and machinery of Andy's workshop and the excellent lunches!!
An excellent day with an excellent tutor who managed to turn (no pun intended!) my mistake into a piece of beauty by the time I had finished. Lunch was very nice as well!!
Very good instructions and equipment, knows his stuff. Definitely recommend
Andy Browne near Fordingbridge. He was really good at teaching and letting you get hands on quickly! It was such good fun the time flew by.
I have been wood turning for about a year but never had a lesson from a professional teacher, what an eye opener. I learned so much in such a short time by a very friendly talented
woodturner. Apart from all of the useful tips the greatest thing I learned from Andy was finesse. At the ripe old age of eighty one i'm hooked. If any one out there is thing of having a go at woodturning do it and start with Andy Browne.
Recently starting out woodturning I wanted to get some instruction to put me on the right path for what to buy and how to use turning tools, sitting behind a desk for my job have little such knowledge.
Andy gave me an excellent days tuition, calm, friendly and very knowledgeable and I was made to feel at ease straight away. His workshop is located in wonderful surroundings and his very well equipped to say the least and we during coffee looking across the beautiful countryside that made the day even more pleasurable. I learnt a great deal and far more than I thought I would need from safety, wood, tools, how to use them and what to buy. I came away with my first turned item/bowl ever and am very excited to get going with my turning and what to buy.
Thanks for a great day Andy,I will be back again.
