2 Day Woodturning Course for Beginners

Description

Over the course of two very full and enjoyable days, you will learn both the spindle and the faceplate turning methods. You will make several projects to take away with you including – a simple bowl, a candlestick or tealight holder, a pen and a honey dipper. The course is aimed at complete beginners up to intermediate turners with the emphasis on learning new skills whilst also working safely. All tools, equipment, materials and PPE are provided. About your instructor – After a 24 year teaching career, specialising in carpentry, woodworking and woodturning, I qualified as a DATA accredited trainer, delivering subject and machine training to teaching staff in schools and colleges all over the UK. Due to my passion for woodworking in general, which is my hobby as well as my occupation, I have now decided to start offering courses at my fully equipped workshop in Stockport, for people who share the same passion.

What's included in the price?

You will receive expert tuition from a very experienced teacher at your own lathe with a comprehensive range of freshly sharpened tools. Once finished, you will be able to take home all of the projects you have completed, which will have been made from high quality hardwoods and finishes. Lunch (sandwiches) is provided along with a plentiful supply of tea, coffee and biscuits! Off road parking is available.

"What an amazing course... I was initially apprehensive of what to expect and do, having no previous experience of wood turning. This concern, however, quickly diminished once the 'hands on' activities commenced. We initially went through the health and safety aspects of working with machinery and sharp tools, quickly progressing to the actual making of something! Mick had an identical set up to us and progressively first showed us what to do and then we did it. The end results included a candle stick made from pine, a bowl made from mahogany and a pen made from Bethlehem olive wood. The end results, albeit saying my self were spectacular."
