Chris Vine reviewed: Box or tub making

"My leatherwork journey only started in the last year and most of my knowledge had been gained from Nigel’s excellent Youtube tutorials. So he was a natural choice for a one to one tuition. I have almost exclusively have been using pricking irons, to the detriment of gaining awl skills. So I knew Nigel’s tub making course, requiring angling the awl to stitch the end pieces, was going to be ambitious and a challenge for my skill level! The course was structured perfectly for my ability but the day turned out to be much more than a tub making course. Advice was given in a number of areas to improve my techniques and, casting an eye over my toolbox, improvements made to some of my tools. I came away with confidence, inspiration and sufficient understanding to now spend time honing my tub making skills. Nigel’s an excellent, patient teacher and freely imparts his wealth of knowledge. A superb day. Thanks."

Suzanne Miao reviewed: 2 Day Silver Jewellery Making Course - Ely

"Loved every minute of the two days of my course with Jonathan, an excellent teacher who made it so much fun. The weekend was filled not just with learning the essential skills of silversmithing, but also a lot of laughter as he (and his wife) have created a warm, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere at the studio. I managed to make three beautiful pieces of silver jewellery, including one piece made from silver we melted down from some old silver rings which I had got in a mixed auction lot some two years ago ~ and am deeply inspired to carry on making more. Friends and family who have seen my pieces have been full of praise, but really, the praise goes to Jonathan for making it possible for me!"

"Great class. Its really hard to trust workshops advertised nowadays but this class provides great information and safe ingredients. They know what they're talking about, reliable information, not just mixing ingredients here and there like other workshops i've been to."

Clare Baker reviewed: Patchwork and Quilting - Non-Residential 2-day Workshops at The Ropewalk, Barton upon Humber

"This course certainly lived up to its title! Lots of instruction in machine quilting with time to practise quilting in the ditch, straight and wavy lines and spiralling within a geometric shape - and I got the maths! Sheena demonstrated free motion stitching and gave us time to practise. We were shown and helped to layer up our quilt tops in preparation for quilting. All of this was accompanied by examples and handouts. We were all given individual help and support too. The preparation and planning that Sheena does to deliver these excellent courses is outstanding. I have the confidence to take my quilting forward. Thank you Sheena. Looking forward to November."

Ruth Chamberlain reviewed: Photography Days

"Would throroughly recommend Richard and Sue after having spent the most wonderful day with them. Having some experience with photography they tailored the day to suit me, resulting in my learning a whole new range of skills. Richard and Sue are so welcoming and make you feel relaxed and confident with your camera, and they can take you to some of the most stunning locations in the world. I would urge any photographer, whether you have just caught the bug, or have already plunged into the world of 'manual' to have a day with them, it's surprising how much you can learn! I cannot praise them both enough for the day, it was truly fantastic!"

Nella & Wayne reviewed: A relaxing day of clay making

"I contacted Trisha because I wanted a private, shorter pottery session with my husband (the theme of the 9th wedding anniversary is 'pottery'!) I was not disappointed; Trisha could fit us in very flexibly, and organised a wonderful evening for us with some snacks and bubbly. Trisha is a very inspiring teacher, she taught us 3 different techniques with great materials and we both enjoyed our short evening course so much we booked to come again and glaze what we had produced. And I am sure we will be back, maybe with the kids! Thank you!"

"Cant praise Lucy enough for a great and informative day. Learned so much about my own style and how to achieve the look I want in my new home. Don't be put off by mention of Lucys love of colour _ am pretty conservative but she was able to help me inject some colour into my very traditional room."

"What a fabulous day! We attended Toni's course for my daughter's 21st birthday as she's a keen crafter. I wasn't expecting to come away with so many lovely things - it's incredible how far this silver clay stretches. We had such a great time. Toni was incredibly knowledgeable and is a very talented lady. We will definitely back to do her other courses. Thank you for an amazing day Toni, LOVED it and wholeheartedly recommend this course."

Claire Mutiwanyuka reviewed: Upholstery and upcycling furniture and interiors

"I enjoyed the course immensely, Lucy made me feel welcome and it helped that the other participants were super friendly and helpful as I managed to learn a lot from their individual projects. Lucy was keen to share as much as she could possibly could and no question is a silly question either. I came away having learnt how to sand down a chair, decoupage (both paper and material) on a chair and a picture frame and reupholstering a dining room chair. As well as observing whilst others were being explained the various steps. Lovely snacks and lunch available. I highly recommend this course."

Michael W reviewed: Spoon carving (Two Day)

"Excellent course. Just the right degree of stretch to provide a sense of having learned a great deal, and of achievement, without feeling at all stressful. Good lunches and good company. A weekend very well spent. If, like me, you have not been in an explicitly "learning" environment for while, it is fascinating to watch yourself doing so, under Martin's expert and tactful tuition."

Leona reviewed: Wire & mixed media sculpture courses with James Ort

"This course is partly about making the sculpture you had in mind when you walked into the studio and you certainly are well-supported in attaining this goal. But you also leave the course with new ideas and a road-map leading you to their creation. Having had no experience in working in three dimensions, I was amazed to find I had created a figure which bore a real resemblance to what it was supposed to represent! The Phoenix Studio where James Ort teaches his courses is incredibly conducive to creativity. You can sit, stand, walk about, drink tea etc. at will. You naturally tune in to the creative spirit which pervades the space. And it's fun! There is laughter and nurture in equal measure. I strongly recommend this course to anyone who would like to work with wire."

Eve Webb reviewed: Wet felt works of art

"This workshop was an absolute joy from start to finish. I had never done wet felting before but had looked into it lots and I loved it, producing a felted flower and picture in the time given, that I was really pleased with. The setting is totally relaxed with lovely beverages and biscuits on offer. Fiona was really knowledgeable about the craft and wool generally and was brilliant at tutoring. She is extremely fun, friendly and relational and I wouldn't hesitate to try any of the workshops at the farm. I thoroughly enjoyed myself."

Alan James reviewed: Beginners introductory pyrography course in Lincolnshire

"I feel that the wood burning course might be compared with burning wood logs on an open fire. It was warm and comforting. it commandeered ones full attention, it exercised ones imagination (with faces in the fire), but all without any spitting, sparks or, the resultant ash: Pity it's not possible to dispose of used tissues.5 So thank you and best wishes."
