Laura Ghent reviewed: Pole-lathe turning taster days: spindle turning

"Had a fantastic day at Lower Brockhampton Estate on the Pole Lathe Turning. Maurice was very knowledgeable and excellent at teaching us the basics of wood turning (also very patient with my poor attempts at times!). We were taught what to do and which tools were used for what and were then free to explore and get a feel for using the lathe, but help was readily available from Maurice if we needed it. We were free to make whatever objects we chose. Would thoroughly recommend the course and will definitely be doing this again in the near future!"

Sue Powell reviewed: Painting and Drawing one day workshop for adults with Penny Mason, Birmingham (NO CLASSES UNTIL MARCH 2021)

"Feeling very relaxed and enthused by Penny's art class yesterday. After a warm welcome and introductions to the other participants the class started with an introduction to basic drawing techniques. A welcome light lunch of hot soup and olive bread was served and I must say this was delicious. Coffee cake followed which was perfect made by Jane and created fun chat about the eggs used from her hens. Back to the art and the afternoon was spent on painting a still on to a canvas. Lots of support and encouragement from Penny and I arrived home with a great memento of the experience. A lovely day with lovely people, thank you Penny. I think you will see me again."

Gary Bickmore reviewed: Spoon carving at Walderchain Wood, Canterbury

"Beautiful location and blessed with fantastic weather. I had a brilliant day and learnt so much that I can take away and apply myself at home. Mark and Jill are patient and expert teachers that support and guide you throughout the day. Excellent advice on techniques and equipment that you might want to look out for should you choose to take up this art. A delicious home made lunch and a nice walk through the woodland with advice on tree types and things like coppicing and woodland management. I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience spoon carving and have gone away with knowledge that will last a lifetime. Thanks to everyone at Walderchain Wood."

Leonie reviewed: Make your very own clutch bag/small tablet device case/sleeve

"Big thanks to Richard for such a great workshop! I really left feeling I had learnt an age old craft and now I can make my own hand stitched leather accessories. I learnt about the different leathers, where I can buy everything I need to start making accessories and top of the list was learning the whole making process from start to finish! I am using the gorgeous card wallet/coin purse I made and already have people asking me where I bought it from. I take great pride in telling them that I made it. :-) Thanks Richard, I hope to book the clutch bag workshop soon."

Anna Smaill reviewed: Bespoke candle making workshop - Edinburgh

"Spent a lovely morning yesterday at the candle making workshop. Kerry is such a lovely lady, so welcoming - it felt like we had known her for ages and were at a friend's house. The workshop was great fun and extremely informative. Bought a starter pack to make a candle at home and look forward to this being the start of a new skill. Learnt that I had been burning candles incorrectly (who would have thought there was a right and wrong way). I would totally recommend this workshop, we had a wonderful enjoyable morning."

Trudy reviewed: Christmas needle felting workshops for all!

"I have just completed two workshops with the lovely Claire (Sheep & Sleeping Fox) and hopefully have two more coming up. Claire is a great teacher and needle felting is so satisfying. It's a great craft to learn and amazingly easy. The atmosphere is so relaxing, a good laugh, coffee, cake and like minded people crafting away, all in the atmosphere of the most amazing little sewing shop around at All Sewn Up By Debs. I am a regular attender at many of the workshops run by the wonderful Debs. You would have to travel a long way to find such a perfect setting and lovely company. Try it you'll love it!"

Felt Wildly responded:

"Thank you so much Trudy. It’s my pleasure :)"

Lesina Ashfield reviewed: One day silver jewellery making in Worcestershire.

"My sisters and I have just spent 2 brilliant days, as a complete beginners, aboard The Silver Jewellery Boat under Jonathan’s careful and encouraging tuition. We came away with a collection of copper and silver bracelets, rings and key rings that we were all thrilled with. The whole experience was SO relaxing. Not only is Jonathan a great teacher but he is a perfect host, providing regular soft drinks, tea, coffe, cake and biscuits! We enjoyed lunch, sitting in the sunshine alongside the canal watching the wildlife and listening to the birds. Look forward to returning and introducing family and friends to this amazingly inspiring and relaxing experience! Thank you Jonathan!"

christina young reviewed: Green Wood Chair Making - 6 Day Woodworking Course in South Devon

"This is much more than a 'learn how to make a chair course'. You do, of-course, make a beautiful chair, but in addition Peter has created a workshop which seems rather other worldly. You can park the day to day niggles of life at the gate and spend a fabulous week being gently guided through the various steps needed to transform a log into a beautiful piece of furniture. Along the way there is opportunity to chat, to learn about greenwood work generally and to improve and learn skills. The whole experience is therapeutic and great fun. Do it!"
