"I really enjoyed the traditional cold process soap making. Catherine provided us with clear, informative instructions, calculations and recipes. Her calm and easy approach made for a comfortable learning environment and a small group meant Catherine was always quick to help and advise. A wonderful day, thoroughly enjoyed it and feel confident now to try by myself. Thank you so much Catherine."

Audrey Thompson reviewed: A Ceramic Dinner Set for 2 - Making Pottery Plates and Bowls

"I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working within Carla Sealey's Studio. I liked having the choices of clays and glazes to use so that I could make my own personal choices. I have done a course with clay before but this, a 3 day course, it was nice to start from using raw clay and end up with something finished by the third session for final firing. It has been sociable too, getting to know the other person on the course with me, and thank Carla for her excellent guidance. In my opinion this course would suit both a single would-be Potter, a couple of friends wanting time out together, or grandparent/grandchild experience. I look forward to signing up to a further course in the Autumn to add to my collection."

Hilary Smith reviewed: A Ceramic Dinner Set for 2 - Making Pottery Plates and Bowls

"Working with clay was new to me and I really appreciated the help and advice provided by Carla. There were only 2 of us on the course and, therefore, we had far more individual attention than would have been possible in a larger class. I had been through a very stressful time prior to the course and found the whole experience relaxing and felt recharged afterwards. I don't think of myself as an artistic person but I ended up with lovely bowls and plates with beautiful glazes and feel encouraged to do more."

Sudhir R reviewed: Advanced Timber Framing Course

"Before I went on the course initially I thought I should offer to cook in my email to Alan & Mary that way at least I would get two good meals during the 14 days I was to be there. When I got a non commital reply I thought oh well never mind it will be good to lose a bit of weight, cupasoup and pot noodles aren't so bad. What a pleasant surprise when Mary's cooking turned out to be excellent. Both the beginner and advanced courses were extremely good, Alan is super talented and what you get is a rare beautiful skill set. Most people would throw away into the fire twisted lumps of wood but he takes delight and pleasure in their natural shape and I found I began to see that too. The whole family's work ethic and how his kids are was unusual."

Hugo Dale reviewed: Beginners Course in Blacksmithing @ Hot Milk Forge

"I have been on a couple of courses at Hot Mild Forge and really enjoyed my time there. Very relaxed working environment allowing the student to work at their pace with one on one support as required. A total of 8 forges supports 8 students and you never or rarely need to share tools as the workshop is well kitted out. I had basic knowledge of the blacksmith shop and how it worked as I grew up beside 2, but I had not developed the skills. I learned a lot. My interest was to learn how to move hot metal for knife forging. I learn much of that plus a lot more. Eamonn was a good teacher and generous with information, wanting all to succeed. I would recommend to anyone to take a weekend away from normal life and try one of Eamonn's courses at Hot Milk Forge."

Shani Plackett reviewed: Clay Day Workshop

"My daughter and a attended this course last Sunday and had a great time. Both Geri and Sue were informative and very patient! We both managed to turn out pretty good looking pots on the wheel, albeit with a little help, we also made a pinch pot, a pot from coiling and a small box - you pack a lot into the day! We will be back."

Tom Gill reviewed: Advanced Timber Framing Course

"After attending the first course back in May I couldn't wait to get back to the woods for the advanced course. This part of the course concentrates on the trickier roof elements of the frame, and we were let loose on the trusses of what will become a pretty special glamping cabin for a local farmer, one wall frame of which had been created by the students on another introductory course the previous week. Alan had designed this cabin with a variety of features to cover different aspects of framing and scribing techniques, from a cruck truss lofted from a string template set out on the ground below, to the middle interrupted tie beam - scissor brace truss, finished off with a king post truss at the other end. Talk about being dropped in at the deep end - but with Alan and Connor's tuition and guidance by the end of the week we had created some truly stunning trusses! Alan clearly has a passion for his work, and for passing on his extensive knowledge in a friendly and simple way. For anyone interested in traditional timber buildings I cannot recommend this course highly enough - a thoroughly enjoyable and informative week, topped off with Mary's delicious (and copious) food! Thanks again to all at Hewnwood - I will be back!"

Sharla Greenway reviewed: Beginners Hand spinning - 'From fleece to fibre’ - at All in a Spin

"To be able to go from fleece to a skein of yarn in a day is such a brilliant feat. Dunja is a very good teacher, she explains everything really well and is very patient and to be able to learn in such beautiful surroundings is a bonus. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who has an interest in yarn and where it comes from and i am already looking at Dunjas other courses."

Jackie stephens reviewed: Beginners Hand spinning - 'From fleece to fibre’ - at All in a Spin

"This course is excellent in every way, Dunja is a fantastic teacher who really makes sure students understand what they are doing and why, the content and pace were perfect. None of us had spun before but we we all went away with our own skein of wool we had produced from the fleece. The brand new studio facilities in a converted barn on the working farm are superb and the rural setting surrounded by the sheep whose fleece we were spinning was a great inspiration. I will definitely be going back for more."

Susan Wooldridge reviewed: Beginners Hand spinning - 'From fleece to fibre’ - at All in a Spin

"Rarely do courses, products or services deliver what is promised, but Dunja's one day beginners' hand spinning course certainly does, and much more. A truly excellent experience in a wonderful setting. Everything is explained clearly and simply and the practical elements progress gradually so that confidence and skill are developed side by side. I really cannot recommend this course highly enough: for those who are interested in finding out how the wool they use at home is made from source to skein, or for those who would like to progress further and go on to become experience spinners. (course attended on Wednesday 2 August 2017)"

Gareth Coetzer reviewed: Timber framing courses

"What a great course! There is nothing I can fault from the brilliant tuition to the amazing food (thanks Mary) to the newly installed shower. If I could have stayed for the follow on course I would have. Alan and Connor have so much patience to pass on the skills they know too well to the inexperienced bunch that attended this course. I can only hope I have the time to return for a second helping of timber framing!"
