2-Day Traditional Stained Glass Painting Course for Beginners

X

Description

This 2 day stained glass painting workshop in Wem is structured to cater for different levels of beginners, including complete beginners. It's a brilliant opportunity to learn or develop a range of traditional painting techniques that were practised by the craftsmen back in the earliest years of creating stained glass windows in Europe. Please read the schedule below for a further insight into what to expect over the 2 days. The start dates show the first day of the two consecutive day course. Day 1 - 11:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m You will explore, with the most creative approach to traditional, kiln-fired, stained glass painting, the making of glass paint paste, applying it and texturing onto glass. You will practice the glass painting skill of tracing, where you will select and work from a range of patterns and light/pale coloured glass provided. Day 2 - 11:00 a.m - 3:30 p.m You will select a pattern of your choice and create a piece using all of the skills you were introduced to. I will guide you to paint it on a piece of coloured glass we will select from the studio racks. At the end of the day, your final pieces will be fired overnight using my kiln. No prior glass experience is necessary! The studio is located on The Old Creamery Business Park, Aston Road within walking distance from the bus and train station. For parking, there is parking in front of the studio. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

I am a Stained Glass artist and artisan with a studio located in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. I am originally from the suburbs of Paris and moved to the UK in 1995. I have run the Couleurlive studio since 1998 and have delivered courses, apprenticeships and workshops with individuals and groups. I had the fantastic opportunity to participate in the BSMGP Centenary Touring Exhibition in 2021, which toured across major cathedrals and culminated at the International Festival of Glass in Stourbridge, West Midlands. Additionally, I was honoured to be invited by the Church's Conservation Trust to deliver courses in stained glass painting at the historic St. Mary's Church in Shrewsbury and the prestigious new Museum of Stained Glass in France, Cité du Vitrail. All courses are available in both English and French. www.couleurlive.com Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo & LinkedIn: @couleurlive Instagram: @couleurlive_stainedglass
