SarahC reviewed: Lampwork glass bead tuition

"Had an amazing time at Jo's workshop, she is friendly and calm and happy to explain as much of the science behind the art as you want. Her studio is quiet and calm and full of plenty of inspiration and she is happy to allow you to explore your creative self having as much or as little support and help as you need! Absolutely fabulous and will certainly be returning for more workshops."

Turid Monteith reviewed: Linocut printmaking in Cornwall

"I attended a one day workshop last weekend with Olivia. I really enjoyed my day and came away having learnt loads about lino printing, and with several copies of a print that makes me smile! Olivia was an engaging, fun, inspiring and very informative tutor, and I imagine attending the course would suit the novice (like me) or more experienced printer alike. I would love to attend another workshop, and would try and book onto the whole weekend next time, as although it was enough time to complete a print, it would have been a real luxury to have the time to develop what I had learnt on a second day. I happily recommend Olivia and her workshops. It was a real pleasure to attend."

Sue reviewed: Watercolour on canvas

"Liz's workshop was excellent! In respect of the current situation with Covid every precaution and adherence to protocols were completely explained and adhered to throughout and I felt safe. Liz had prepared well with the tutorials, practical sessions, with everything we needed at our workstations. She is a gifted, knowledgeable, generous and enthusiastic tutor, with the ability to explain, inspire and support across a mixed ability class. A lovely setting and a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere conducive to learning even though we worked hard. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would love to attend another of Liz’s workshops should an opportunity arise."

Sharon Jackson reviewed: Silver Clay Jewellery Course

"A small group of us attended the silver clay workshop. We all had our own equipment and tools. The studio is very light, airy and very comfortable. Yolanda and John quickly put us at ease. There was a plentiful supply of tea/coffee or cold drinks. We had a fabulous lunch and later in the day we had afternoon tea. All the materials we required were included in the price as was the lunch. Yolanda is an excellent tutor. She is patient and her instructions are clear And encouraging. There was plenty of one to one tuition as and when required. We all had a fabulous time and feel the cost of the course was very good value. We will be back to do another course. In view of the size of the studio we were able to maintain social distancing. We were each supplied with a mask and a bottle of sanitiser which we were encouraged to use."

Anne Singh reviewed: Driftwood Harbour workshops with Harbour Wood Design at Walford Mill in Dorset

"I thoroughly enjoyed my day at Michelle’s Harbour Workshop. We were made to feel very welcome in the bright airy studio, nicely spaced out. Michelle is an encouraging and patient tutor, we had a lovely variety of materials to work with, we were encouraged to create our own little individual Harbours, it was fun creating them with Michelle’s guidance and seeing each other’s come to life! No carpentry skills were needed. I had been a little apprehensive about going on my own, I needn’t have been. I highly recommend this enjoyable, creative workshop, I learnt a lot and have since made another little harbour at home. The premises are delightful and the cafe on site sells varied and delicious lunches. Anyone thinking about attending this workshop will not regret it."

James Walley reviewed: Blacksmithing for Beginners - Full Day Forging for One

"What an amazing day! Just home from my course with Chris, and I have to leave a review. Chris was a great instructor, very informative and very knowledgeable. The day started with a very thorough briefing on all aspects of health and safety, including the currently necessary Covid requirements which were dealt with easily and didn’t particularly impact the day. We were guided through a step by step process to make a leaf key ring from a square stock bar. Lots of skills to practice and plenty of time, and support, from Chris - time flew by and a few hours later we were applying a finish to protect our precious hand made pieces. I could not recommend Chris and his course enough, and I can’t wait to go back for another go!"

Caroline Roberts reviewed: Candle Making Workshop with Bilsington Priory Afternoon Tea

"Thoroughly enjoyable day, very relaxed and learnt so much ! Really nice to do something creative and course takes you out of yourself and makes you concentrate on something lovely. Our day was spent with a really informative intro, selection of scents and then creating our own large candle, tinned candle and six hanging wax melts decorated to our own individual choice, which was really fun. Karen was excellent, very knowledgeable and conveyed all the information in an excellent format - very relaxed. Afternoon tea was fab while we waited for our creations to cool Overall a brilliant day and highly recommended for a very different experience"

The Aromatic Candle Co responded:

"Hi Caroline, I'm so pleased that you and Emma enjoyed the day, it was lovely to meet you both. I said that if I could get you to forget about day to day life for even a few hours then I had done my job, mission accomplished! I hope to see you both again in the future. Karen"

Chaneille Gaynor reviewed: Taster pottery throwing lesson (various dates)

"My partner and I did the 2.5 hour throwing taster session after it was recommended by a friend. After completing the session, I immediately wanted to book in for another class. Jack was a very friendly and patient teacher. From teaching us the fundamentals of throwing to how to correct any mistakes made. He was incredibly supportive and very personable. I was unsure of how much I would enjoy pottery as it was completely new to me, but after the first cup was made I was immediately hooked and this is a huge compliment to jack and his teaching style. Casual conversations whilst going through each step made for an easygoing and relaxing experience. We can’t wait to go back and make a variety of pottery!"

The two day course has provided me with a wealth of additional methods and techniques, as well as some new perspectives on design. The course is well-paced and the teaching is excellent. Everyone in the group left with a unique and interesting table or stool, as well as a great sense of achievement. Many thanks to Peter and Toby for a thoroughly enjoyable experience!"
