This is a fun day course with great results. Learn how to make your very own whimsical harbour scene/sculpture from driftwood and reclaimed materials in wonderful surroundings in a beautiful old contemporary Mill. We are situated in the beautiful old town of Wimborne in Dorset, many students like to make a weekend of it and stay close by to explore as well as joining in on a relaxing day creating. Everyone starts with an array of reclaimed and driftwood all sourced from the Dorset coastline to make their harbours and cottages, but every single piece ends up looking so unique. Please take a look at the pictures to see what you can expect to achieve on your day with me.
Step by step tuition gives you great results to take home your very own miniature harbour.
I have been a mixed media artist for many years , growing up along the Jurassic coast has provided me with an amazing amount of inspiration. Most winters I can be found scouring the local coastline for treasure for my work and also for your workshops. Alongside driftwood I use odd bits and unusual pieces of wood, jaunty fabric and anything rusty , I have a life long love of anything rusty. Its amazing the flotsam and jetsam that gets spat out by the sea and lands up here in Dorset.
Also, if you have any reclaimed materials or driftwood you would like to bring along we can do the best we can to work with these.
We have ensured we meet the current government guidelines in our eduction room, each person will have a table to themselves and two meters away from anyone else. We ask that you provide your own mask please , we have antibacterial gel and hand washing readily available throughout the day .
By special arrangement I can accommodate private parties such as hen, birthday or corporate, please email for details and rates . I also do collaboration pieces with members of the same family who wish to work on a large piece together , maybe for a special birthday gift or just a piece to keep, please get in touch about these. I think I have covered everything but any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch via email email@example.com

What a fabulous course. Michelle was really helpful and offered her insight into making my harbour exactly what i wanted.
There are plenty of materials to make just the perfect model with guidance and patience from Michelle.
Food from the nearby cafe was delicious as well!
I thoroughly enjoyed my day at Michelle’s Harbour Workshop. We were made to feel very welcome in the bright airy studio, nicely spaced out. Michelle is an encouraging and patient tutor, we had a lovely variety of materials to work with, we were encouraged to create our own little individual Harbours, it was fun creating them with Michelle’s guidance and seeing each other’s come to life! No carpentry skills were needed. I had been a little apprehensive about going on my own, I needn’t have been. I highly recommend this enjoyable, creative workshop, I learnt a lot and have since made another little harbour at home. The premises are delightful and the cafe on site sells varied and delicious lunches. Anyone thinking about attending this workshop will not regret it.
I booked this workshop for me and my dad and we both thoroughly enjoyed the day. It was at a relaxed pace, no carpentry skills were needed, everyone in the workshop finished their piece and they all looked different. We have made some more pieces at home. Michelle was very attentive to everyone and was happy to share all her knowledge. A great day.
This was a really interesting day. Michelle is great at guiding you through the initial design method needed to create your harbour using a great supply of the materials provided. Your creativity and guidance from Michelle is guaranteed to help you produce a harbour scene to be proud of.
Response from Harbour Wood Design:Hello Phil ,thank you so much that’s very kind . Also thank you for taking the time to do a review for me .
Such a lovely way to spend a day. We were made to feel very welcome and with hand sanitiser and disinfectant wipes we knew we were safe. With a wide selection of lovely wooden materials to choose from, we were encouraged to develop our own little wooden Harbour vision, with the gentle support of Michelle, the tutor. We all created an individual unique item that we felt great pride in.
Highly recommend this workshop to everyone!!

A wonderful way to spend time together and come home with an "achievement"! Lovely workshop, great selection of driftwood, string, nails, paint, glue, nuts and bolts to name a few! Excellent help and friendly guidance throughout the day which ensured each of us had a result! Thank you Michelle. (And the cafe on site was also excellent offering coffee, cake and lunch!)

What a great way to spend a day out! We got to play with driftwood, paint, nails and string and, thanks to Michelle's guidance, all came away with charming, unique harbour scenes at the end of it. The workshop space is nice and bright, and well organised so you can work alone and also get inspiration from those around you. And the on-site café has delicious lunches, which they very kindly brought over to us. Highly recommended!
