Beaches make great renewable art canvases! I'm an experienced Beach Art teacher who likes to help everyone unlock their hidden talents and have fun doing it.
I'll show you how to draw sacred geometric shapes and then we'll work on a design together. Upon completion, we'll take photos and reflect on this meditation/art experience. Don't worry about mistakes as this is a uniquely non-destructive and renewable art form and you'll find the whole experience a liberating one!
This kind review sums up pretty well what I aim for:
"After inspiring us with some of his own incredible designs, we couldn't wait to get started and headed down to the beach to get creative! When we got down to the beach Bill explained the golden ratio... he showed us how to use different tools and positioning to make perfect large circles and how to start building up a design from a collection of circles...it’s quite unbelievable how many shapes/patterns you can make from circles! We learnt how to create the Yin Yang symbol, flower of life patterns, geometric shapes, and how to get different textures from the tools….the design possibilities are really quite endless."
We have to work with the tides, sand conditions and weather so we'll probably draw on the low tide sands at Polzeath. I usually meet clients on Atlantic Terrace, New Polzeath, PL27 6US but I am flexible and we can meet wherever suits.

We've booked the beach art experience with our two daughters (9 and 5 y.o.) and had some great time creating patterns on the sand. Bill guided us carefully and we just went with the flow and created a beautiful pattern. I also loved that Bill made some pictures with a drone which allowed us to look at our art from the top. Thank you!
A wonderful experience! Bill was a fantastic teacher and even managed to get our 2 year old enthused about making patterns in the sand! We would highly recommend this to anyone - interesting, fun and very satisfying.
We had a wonderful time making sand art with Bill. We had a large group and spent some time playing with different mark-making tools and techniques before working together on a big pattern. Bill was very easy to communicate with and had great suggestions for the group. Would thoroughly recommend for a peaceful few hours absorbed in nature!
I booked this for my daughter's art project. Bill tailored it really well for her with some great personalised communication beforehand about what would suit. We had a lovely afternoon on a stunning sunny Polzeath beach. They accomplished quite a few pieces of lovely varied art. Made for great photography too.
Awesome experience. I was surprised how quick it was to draw a really big pattern in the sand. I’d love to do more. The location is gorgeous and Bill was a great host.
I had a totally enlightening hour with Bill online today and learnt so much about Sacred Geometry and how our paper drawings could be used on a much bigger beach or even field canvas. A wonderful starting point for anyone thinking about their summer beach holidays and the pack alone of templates and ideas will keep me busy for some time. It's incredible what you can make with same sized circles and I can see now how these techniques were developed for more complex Islamic designs which is one of my interests. I can warmly recommend this short starter course to anyone. It was very good value to have such an experienced artist on a one-to-one basis to myself and we went far over the time allocated in a very relaxed and informal way. Thanks Bill.
Response from Beach Art:
Thanks Lucy! It was such fun having you do the session. I learnt a lot from you too, especially about your interests in Islamic design. I do hope you will use some of your new ideas and designs on a bigger canvas once the lockdown ends and you can get onto your local beach. Please contact me again if you need any advice or want to join a Beach Art course. I am happy to offer a 50% discount for you and your family members. Best wishes.I did the course with Bill via that Airbnb Experiences site and had a wonderful two hours on the beach learning how to make star patterns within the grid of a massive Flower of Life. It looked amazing from the cliffs above but the main thing for me was the meditative nature of the experience. Very calming and great to be by the sea focused on easy to follow instructions. Highly recommend to anyone.
Response from Beach Art:
Thanks Sam. It was great fun and you did a great job! Photos available on my Facebook @beachartists page. Best regards, BillWe had the most magical two hours on the beach with Bill this morning. He was hugely accommodating to all ages and abilities, encouraging us all to try out our own designs with lots of tips and insight along the way. He was interested in our lives and family and his knowledge and passion for all things Fibonacci was super interesting :-) We loved creating our beach art, found it satisfying, liberating and utterly therapeutic! Would defiantly recommend to anyone to try for a couple of magical hours on the beach x

Thanks Lisa for your very kind review. It was a really fun session and everyone really gave it a go. The photos are in an album on my Beach Art facebook page if you want to use any of them. Your children were amazing and Matt too! A really dynamic team. You should be very proud. Best regards and thanks for marking out those 61 large circles to make the Flower of Life with such dedication and accuracy! I think everyone was impressed!I booked this with my 14 year old son. I can honestly say it was one of the most absorbing and unique experiences i have had through airbnb. For anyone who thinks they are not an artist and wants to know how to do this - trust me you wont be disappointed. Bill is also a very lovely man and gentle teacher who has a lot of knowledge - which he shares only if you're interested otherwise will leave you to work on creating a magical piece of art with quiet guidance. My son was super proud of his work and felt encouraged, never criticised and he felt he learnt some new skills too. Thank you Bill...
Response from Beach Art:
Thanks Andi, I enjoyed the day too and the heavy sea mist that came in certainly added to an almost surreal setting at times. I wish you both well with your futures and hope that you develop your ideas of combining sacred geometric shapes with sounds. It's all so connected! I certainly learnt something new today too... how straight lines can be drawn a completely different way by pushing the marker out ahead of you. Best regards, Bill
