Des Waterfall reviewed: Welding with confidence

"I really enjoyed this introduction to welding with MIG. Excellent demonstrations of different methods which we were allowed to practice. Nigel made it look easy and after practicing I managed to get some half decent welds. Like anything practice will improve the results. It has given me confidence to try at home with a MIG welder I bought many years ago when I had a Landrover. The use of the Auto mask made it easier to concentrate on the welding and not worry where the torch was pointing. Thanks Nigel, your sense of humour, stories and advice relieved the worry about striking that first arc."

Dean Newton reviewed: Welding with confidence

"Great day on MIG welding with Nigel. Went from total novice to someone who would be confident tackling projects at home. The majority of the day was hands-on practice, with Nigel setting us various tasks as the day progressed, each supported by a story or two from his past exploits. Very entertaining."

Janet Wood reviewed: Willow sculpture weaving hares courses at Greenwood Days

"I had a very enjoyable day on a willow weaving coursed with Greenwood Days yesterday. I'm very proud of the two large willow obelisks I constructed; my family, who gave me the craft courses voucher, were very impressed with my efforts. Eddie was an excellent tutor and the course was conducted in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, in the woodland setting, with the sun shining, the birds singing and a "brew" regularly in the pot. Not only do I have my lovely obelisks but I have learnt techniques which I am looking forward to using at home to make simple perennial supports."

rachel angus reviewed: Expressive painting in oils or acrylics

"I took part in the "Expressive landscapes" workshop last week and absolutely loved it! Liz is a fantastic teacher, creating an inspiring and relaxed atmosphere, with just the right amount of group and one-on-one super helpful guidance. Before coming I had hit a wall with my painting, having mainly copied photos in small details, I'd struggled to know where to start with painting more expressively. After Liz's workshop I feel much freer and inspired to paint more from the heart, from the tools she equipped us with, her encouragement, and the inspiration from her own work too. The whole day felt refreshing, meeting lovely other painters too, in a beautiful airy studio. Couldn't recommend higher, and hoping to book onto more workshops in the future."

Martin reviewed: Spoon carving at Walderchain Wood, Canterbury

"Secluded wood, 50 mph winds with strangers euipped with axes and knives. Not a horror story but just a great day of spoon carving with Mark Saich. Course moved into the barn with a wood burner. Mark is an excellent tutor allowing the delegates to get on with their spoon. Clear explanations and always emphasising the safety aspects of using the various tools. Mark was also very mindful of covid regulations. No hesitation in recommending this course to anyone who is interested in working with greenwood or just looking for a new hobby that allows you to unwind. Cristina provided an excellent lunch, thank you."

Walderchain Wood responded:

"Martin Thank you for taking the time to review the class. It was a bit breezy wasn't it. Glad you enjoyed the day. Keep up the good work and hope you're getting some use of your new tools. All the best Mark and Cristina"

Anna Northam reviewed: Five day woodwork course - tools

"I've just completed my 5 day 'course one' with Richard, Mark and Jay. I learned so much over the 5 days and am keen to keep going and learn more, so, course two booked, as well as the box making course with Mark. There's much to take in, but, when you are one of only four students with 3 tutors (we were lucky enough to have Jay helping out, too) you're in a pretty privileged position, therefore, well worth the investment. Looking forward to the next course."

"Provided a package of bespoke art material which enabled me to spent a retirement gift that was intended to be used for courses which was not possible due to the pandemic. My wife and I are indebted to Marilyn as at one stage we thought we might loose the value of the craft course voucher. Everything was as ordered and the packaging was the best we have ever seen. We would highly recommend Marilyn Allis and Craft Courses who put us in touch with Marilyn."

"I was lucky enough to have a 1:1 session with Paula on her Soap and Cosmetics Business Course. The day was fantastic! I came away from the course having learnt a great deal, and felt Paula gave me the confidence to proceed with setting up my own soap business. Paula has a huge amount of knowledge and information regarding soap making and the legislation for selling in the UK. She is extremely helpful and happy to answer any questions.
