Jan johnson reviewed: Glass appliqué mosaic workshop at Cakebread Studios, Central Manchester

"Extremely enjoyable day at Cakebread Studios with Tracey and Caroline making a glass on glass mandala. The ladies are both excellent tutors.Very clear and concise instructions and tips and on-going support throughout the day. All necessary tools and equipment were provided along with an extensive range of glass to choose from to make the mandala. I would definitely recommend this as a fun and creative day. You will learn a lot and have a beautiful piece to take home with you."

Tracey Cartledge Artist responded:

"Hi Jan Thank you for taking the time to write this lovely review and very pleased to hear that you found it a valuable experience. We really enjoyed your company and seeing your design come to life in gorgeous colours and textures of beautiful glass. All the best, Tracey"

Anthony Green reviewed: Creative Vibe - Glassblowing Sessions

"Bought the day course for my partner and myself for her birthday and the day exceeded my expectations. The day is packed full of learning and application. Unlike other courses you get to make multiple objects in increasing difficulty, and even get a choice of different options in the later glass pieces. Ricky was a fantastic teacher, was highly personable and very engaging. My partner absolutely loved this gift and the sculptures we made arrived in the post safe and sound. All in all, I can't recommend Ricky or his glass blowing classes enough!"

Clover reviewed: Saggar, barrel and raku firing weekend workshops

"It was a great weekend in Devon for me. Apart from two full days of learning a variety of alternative firing techniques, I also enjoyed excellent hospitality from Abi and Alison. It was like a craft retreat holiday for me! The course is suitable for a wide range of abilities, from total newbies to potters with some firing experience, we certainly had taken a lot home. Highly recommended!"

Alison and Abi Firing Workshops responded:

"It was lovely to meet you Clover, so much fun and laughter and potting talk, very pleased you enjoyed it so much. Alison and Abi"

Sabrina reviewed: Glass fusing workshop - 1 day

"Attended a fantastic workshop in March, where I learned new skills for making beautiful dichroic glass jewellery. Jill is a fantastic tutor; her workshop is a tardis of tools and materials and she spared none to help me design and create a beautiful pendant that I am constantly asked when I wear it: "where did you get that from?". I was made instantly at home in Jill's beautiful studio; it's a lovely space to work in and you'll see plenty of examples of this talented lady's artwork. The thing I liked most about the workshop was Jill's ability to facilitate and help me materialise the ideas I had in my head, using her detailed knowledge. I came away with not only a beautiful piece of art that I can wear and am proud of but also the feeling that a lot of knowledge was imparted and I felt I had really learned something by doing. And I must add, it's incredibly therapeutic to do an activity like this for a few hours. I'm definitely booking in for another workshop (when they become available, as Jill is very popular!) Thanks, Jill and hope you'll be running more workshops soon!"

Fired Glass responded:

"Hi Sabrina, thank you so much for your positive review and I'm pleased you are wearing your handmade jewellery with pride. We look forward to seeing you again in the future for more creativity. Kind regards Jill and John"

Amy Joy reviewed: Pottery / ceramics / wheel throwing full day

"I had a wonderful day getting to grips with the basics of pottery, having been booked a place on the workshop as a birthday present. Lorraine was a wonderful teacher, and took us through how to throw, turn and decorate our creations. The pots came out looking amazing! I would book another workshop with Lorraine without hesitation. Having tea, coffee, and cake available to us throughout the day was a really nice touch too. Lorraine also has some of her work for sale at the studio - I couldn't resist buying a cup or two for myself! Thank you so much!"

P Talbot reviewed: Children's needle felting workshop. Great for birthday parties and groups

"This was a fantastic workshop for my daughter’s birthday. Communication prior to the day was great, including directions & what to expect. Elaine ran an absorbing workshop which we all really enjoyed. The instruction was excellent & very encouraging. We all now have very sweet felted rabbits (as we were able to take home spare wool to add some extra finishing touches) & are keen to try other animals too! Thank you"

The Woolly Rabbit responded:

"It was an absolute pleasure and I'm so pleased that you have been inspired to explore needle felting further!"

Carol Voaden reviewed: Stool making course at Sallerton Wood

"Joined Andy on a three day stool making course Sept 2019. Very enjoyable sessions, time scheduled to perfection by Andy with regular breaks for beverages and a lovely lunch which gave us all a chance to get to know one another. Andy was always in attendance to provide guidance and support where ever needed. His woodworking skills, use of tools and materials was apparent from start to finish. The setting of the wood and work area was spectacular, clearly supporting the ethos behind the Greenwood Craft Course. I would thoroughly recommend this learning experience to anyone regardless of their existing skills. I was a complete newby to woodworking and managed to turnout a wonderful piece of work. I am very pleased with my stool and it stands in pride of place in my living room, mainly under my feet!"

Sallerton Wood responded:

"Thanks very much indeed, Carol, for posting that kind review. We're very pleased that you enjoyed the course, and its woodland setting. Glad to hear too that you're putting the stool to good use already! We're hoping to welcome you back at Sallerton Wood again sometime in the future."

French Polishing 1 day Beginner reviewed: French Polishing & Woodcare - Beginners Course - 1 Day

"Great practical course run by Ollie. There were 3 of us which allowed Ollie to spend plenty of time with each as we worked on our own pieces. The progress made on my item (a dressing table) in a single day was fantastic and the result was far better than I had expected. Ollie is a great teacher knowing when to leave us to get on with it and when to step in as necessary. The location and facilities of the workshop were great too. Since the course I have completed other parts of the dressing table following the same process that Ollie taught us and am delighted with the results. Ollie provided material lists and course notes which were easy to follow back at home."

Suzanne Wilson reviewed: Beginners Pottery Day Course

"This is something I had always wanted to have a go at and had no experience whatsoever. From the start Matthew put me at ease, explained everything really clear and guided me throughout, he showed me lots of techniques and was very supportive and encouraging. The day went by so quickly and I have six amazing products to show for it which I actually made on a potters wheel! I cant wait to come back, I would encourage anyone who is thinking about having a go to book with Matt, you wont be disappointed, this course is truly brilliant! X"

Dimbleby Ceramics - Studio Pottery Courses responded:

"Hi Suzanne, Thank you for the lovely review, it was great to see your skills develop throughout the day and you produced some lovely forms on the wheel. The pots will be fired next week and I will be in touch about collection. Best wishes Mathew"

Alan Duncan reviewed: Stool making course at Sallerton Wood

"I was really looking forward to attending this course but it far exceeded my expectations. I had done very little green woodworking before which was not a problem for Andy. He explained everything clearly, whilst demonstrating the next stage and was always at hand if I needed extra reminders! Sallerton is an idyllic woodland, with a stream running through the site. The working area is well equipped and the tools in good condition and regularly sharpened by Andy. We were well looked after, with regular coffee/tea breaks and good lunches. The group appeared to gel together in part because Andy encouraged people to help each other, working in pairs for certain jobs. We all completed ours stools and I was certainly very pleased with my finished piece. All that is required in a oiling once it has dried out. Brilliant Thank you."

Sallerton Wood responded:

"Thanks very much indeed for posting a review, Alan. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the course so much, and the lovely environment and resources at Sallerton Wood. We'd love to see you back again one day. Many thanks for your kind review."

Anthony Culley reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"Great day. Mark is patient, skilled, knowledgeable but never patronising. A very enjoyable day covering what I wanted and a few other things that Mark thought I should know and do. This is the third session I have had over the last three years. Great to sort out the bad habits that creep in (or never go away) and an opportunity to do something different."

Mark Thornton reviewed: Intermediate woodworking course

"I jumped straight into the Intermediate course with a little trepidation having not done the Beginners course first but I needn't have worried, Ciarán is an excellent teacher. He takes you through each process and is always there to guide/rescue when needed. Best of all you come out of it with a real piece of furniture (a coffee table)!"

Yvonne reviewed: Mosaic in a day at Cowshed Creative in the Lake District National Park near Kendal and Windermere

"A really enjoyable day, a small friendly group of ladies who all supported one another. The tutor had time to spend with each individual which was good and the range of tiles and equipment was more than expected. The venue is brilliant and well thought out to accommodate a wide range of students. Our hostess was welcoming and the catering was excellent. It’s a little way out geographically but the drive is well worth the fabulous views. I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who is looking for a lovely day of craft, company and good food. Well done the Cowshed x"

Cowshed Creative responded:

"Thanks Yvonne. We so appreciate all your lovely comments and hope to see you again!"

Harriet McKay reviewed: 1 day introduction to silver jewellery making - Ely

"I chose to take Jonathan's course in particular since he has such stellar ratings; spending the day at his studio on a one day workshop yesterday I totally endorse all the great things previous students have said. The day was superb for Jonathan's approach and hospitality and generosity with time, tools, knowledge, support and welcome at his lovely home (and wonderful lunch). Jonathan is closely involved with education and it shows; the day was a magical combination of being well-structured but informal. It provided the perfect mix of theory, information, demonstration and explanation and space to let us get on with it and allowing us to learn through practice with Jonathan always good humouredly close at hand for support. The after-care and guidance offered is also excellent. SUPERB! Thanks so much Jonathan!"
