Richard Rodway reviewed: Make a Welsh stick chair

"Well what can I say, other than my wonderful experience with Ben has left me in awe of his knowledge and calming influence. it has been inspirational in many ways. I have a fantastic journey into the world of green woodworking with a lovely chair and so many new skills that I have been inspired to dive head long into the green woodworking world. I have tweaked my chair already and have made my own saw horse and started on a couple of projects. Couldn't recommend highly enough. Such a lovely group of people to spend a week with in a wonderful woodland. "

Trish Hall reviewed: Paint pouring with tea & cake

"Absolutely loved this course. Can’t stop telling everyone about it. It’s such an exciting way to create paintings. I love abstract art but have previously failed to produce anything even vaguely decent but this was another level. Tuition, venue, resources and the coffee were all great! I’d watched lots of acrylic pouring videos on line but they all failed to tell me what to actually do, resources to use, how to mix paint for pouring etc etc. Dina showed us three different methods, all of which were really easy with her very clear instruction. Highly recommend everyone to try this course. I came away buzzing!"

Julia reviewed: maltese limestone carving at mount pleasant gardens

"As others have noted, Andrew has a relaxed approach to instruction which does not mean he is not paying attention. He seems to have mastered the art of giving guidance but never hovering, so that you feel confident to proceed with your creation but can always call on him for help. He also has a nice sense of humour but never at your expense. I felt comfortable to work at my own pace and attempt whatever I desired. Mount Pleasant Gardens make a wonderful setting - I had lunch on day one nested in a kind of jungle paradise. Day two, I was too busy carving to eat! I loved the rhythm, the total absorption, and the physicality of removing stone to make a shape. I also recommend the tea and cakes at the little cafe in the gardens which was open on the first day. If not open, try the excellent coffee at the bike place down the road."

Rosie Johnson reviewed: Raku, Saggar, Barrel, Copper Matte & Horsehair Firing Weekend Workshops 2025

"We had a truly fantastic weekend with Alison and Abi. The setting is idyllic and the course is well-paced, so it really felt like there was time and space to take in everything we were learning. As a fairly new potter, I wondered if I'd feel self-conscious about my work or level of ability, but I soon realised this wasn't an issue - I think that everyone, no matter how experienced, found they were trying new things and could be truly creative. I learnt so much and am so pleased with the pieces I took home. I'm already planning what I might make for a return booking. "

Alison and Abi Firing Workshops responded:

"Thanks Rosie for your lovely review, looking forward to seeing you again! X"

Chris Appleton reviewed: Introduction to Lino Printing in Cambridgeshire

"Judith was a fantastic tutor and we both thoroughly enjoyed our first ever attempt at lino printing. Although we only turned up with a few vague ideas, she helped us turn those into something amazing, in a really relaxing environment. It was a really nice mix of sharing her experience, and letting us work things out so we felt like we'd come home with something of our own. Also have to mention the attention to detail - the refreshments provided had been bought specifically to cater for an allergy and it's little things like that, which make the difference. We had a brilliant day and can't stop smiling at the prints we made!"

print paper stitch experiences responded:

"Thank you Chris and Cat! Loved spending the day with you both, you were so receptive to guidance and open to the sometimes unpredictable nature of printing-making. Your prints were fabulous!"

Gillian Lewis reviewed: Beginners 1-day pairs woodturning workshop

"My husband treated me to this 1 to 1 full day course as a surprise 70th birthday present as I had previously expressed an interest in having a go at wood turning. The day was perfect with Simon's expert tuition being delivered with great patience and humour. With his help, I had a go at several techniques using a variety of tools and I managed to complete a honey drizzler and a beautiful bowl which I will treasure with great pride. My husband sat and watched and was able to take lots of photos. We were given hot drinks throughout the day and also had a fabulous lunch in Simon and Louise's farmhouse kitchen. A most memorable day in every way."

Blended Monkey - pottery - woodturning - green woodworking - pole lathe - throwing responded:

"Hi Gill, Thanks so much for a lovely review and so glad you both enjoyed the day. If you need any further advice, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. — Simon"

Celia Busby reviewed: Glass Fusion - Garden Piece

"This was the second glass fusion course that I've done with Sally and I can't recommend her courses highly enough. She gives simple, clear instructions and demonstrates the techniques necessary then allows you to create something yourself which is unique and beautiful. She is endlessly patient and encouraging, the perfect combination in a tutor! I will certainly be looking forward to joining many more of her classes in the future. "

Emily reviewed: Block printing on Fabric

"Alison was amazing, so accommodating. We had a hen party of 8 with her and as the hen's bridesmaid I was in charge of organising. We met a few weeks before to discuss and plan for the day. Alison allowed me to decorate the space however I wanted. It was not an easy task with a larger group but Alison made sure each person was given equal amount of attention. I would highly recommend her course whether that be hen or no hen. I would also highly recommend the cafe down at the fishery who do amazing grazing boards! You will need to pre-book though. The setting is beautiful with lots of greenery, cows etc. I'd make sure to follow the sat nav carefully as it really is out in the sticks but once you're there you'll never want to leave!"

Blooming Designs - Art in the Barn responded:

"Hi Emily , Thank you for your review, I am so pleased you all had such a great day and it was lovely to meet you all and be involved in making Freya’s hen weekend so special . Block printing is a great choice for your celebration , suitable for all ages and the results were amazing ! Wishing you all the best for August with the big day . Best wishes Alison "
