Geraldine Ross reviewed: Pot throwing on the wheel for a Half Day

"Had a super day with my friend - delayed for three months due to the pandemic. It was so good to finally get there! Richard was very patient with us, showing us how to do it, but also letting us get on with our own ideas, for better or worse!"

Potterydayz responded:

"Delighted you both enjoyed the day. See you for glazing soon."

Jane Landsborough reviewed: Friendship Star On-Demand Digital Patchwork & Quilting Course

"Brilliantly organised course. Sheena’s got the knack of imparting her knowledge with good humour and grace. She gives loads of practical advice, tips and encouragement. The mix of emailed instructions, downloadable videos, online community and constructive feedback is really successful. Answers to queries come back inhumanly fast - she seems never to sleep! I thoroughly recommend Shena as a tutor"

Green Man Quilts responded:

"Thank you. You really are too kind! I really value your contributions to the class and you have such a good eye for colour."

Kim reviewed: Rustic oak garden bench - one day course

"We had such a fantastic family day out together making our rustic oak (chestnut and ash) bench with Ian. I would thoroughly recommend it and our two teenagers loved it too. Great sense of achievement at the end of the day and all socially distanced, with lots of fresh air too - the perfect way to celebrate end of lockdown."

Claire reviewed: Beginners Pottery Day Course

"My Mom and I had the most wonderful day at Matt's class. We'd never thrown clay before, but thanks to Matt's expertise, we'd thrown our first bowl within half an hour, and came away with five pieces (3 bowls, 2 jugs) each! From Matt & Rachel's warm hospitality, to Matt's patient tutorage and the mesmerizing experience of working on the wheel, the whole day was faultless. I'd highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to scratch a creative itch, try a new skill, or just wants to have fun doing something a bit different!"

Poornima reviewed: Blacksmithing experience - spend a day in the forge

"Richard is a superb teacher and provides individual teaching despite it being a group lesson. I am a beginner and decide to take this course out of curiosity but by the end I was totally converted and love the material and the skills needed to handle metal. I see myself returning again to improve my understanding and knowledge. Thank you Richard for being such an amazing trainer!!! A special mention - He was professional and the safety setup he provided for social distancing made me feel safe and comfortable."

Andrew Milward reviewed: One day Bag making traditional leather workshop (tote bag / side bag)

"Best course I have ever done. Kingsley is an amazing teacher with an incredibly laid back and approachable attitude. Learnt so much doing his course and had a great time, I was even blown away by the final product! Couldn't recommend this more to anyone wanting to do a weekend course where you learn a new skill and make something to keep. So rewarding, amazing teacher and such a great way to keep a traditional craft alive!"

Ben Frost reviewed: French Polishing & Woodcare - 2 Day Beginners/Intermediate Workshop

"My measure of any good training course is that you feel inspire to put in practice what you have learnt. I have. I've purchased the materials and found some old furniture to practice on. Over the 2 day course Oli paced the work so that I completed more than I thought I was capable of achieving. It's quite a skill to master the shellac application but the results are wonderful. Thanks Oli for your patience and advice."

Abby Gray reviewed: Stained Glass Sun Catchers. (Foil Method) One day class. Beginners and intermediate welcome.

"I attended a beginners course today and would recommend to anyone that is interested. I have a weaker hand and still found this was something I could do easily. I really enjoyed every minute of this course from start to finish. Brilliant teacher and there at all times to help and guide if needed. I can’t wait to do my next course. Seeing your finished piece is so overwhelming knowing you have made that yourself. And the finished piece is beautiful."

Sue Whittaker reviewed: Introductory pottery wheel throwing taster sessions

"I took part in the one-day wheel course. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day; Lorraine is an excellent teacher, and the social-distancing arrangements and care for our safety were very good. It was a well-paced day, with time to try throwing, turning and decorating, all under Lorraine's expert eye. A lovely, refreshing treat; I would highly recommend it."

Rachel reviewed: The Whole Table Loom Set Up - Dobby & Rose

"Highly recommend this course to everyone! From start to finish it is such a lovely course in such a lovely studio. She makes everything look so easy but she is so good at explaining everything in different ways and easier techniques to make sure that you understand what you are doing and feel confident in what you are doing! And you leave with an amazing handbook to explain the process for you to be able to try it again at home on your own. And as soon as I got home I wanted to continue.... so have ordered some accessories already that I used at the workshop. Can't wait to get back to do another workshop! Book on! X"

Celeste Barry reviewed: Friendship Star On-Demand Digital Patchwork & Quilting Course

"I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with Sheena and meeting a new group of quilter friends online. I started the friendship star class with intermediate quilting skills and am ending it enriched with new tools and tips to carry forward in my quilting. I loved Sheena’s teaching style and breakdown of the project into weekly bite-size pieces. It’s been fun to share our weekly progress online. Both Sheena’s and group comments have motivated me outside my comfort zone to try new methods and gain insight to looking at the same seam allowance from a new perspective. Will definitely sign up for another class."

Green Man Quilts responded:

"Oh My! What a lovely review. Thank you. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with you and have appreciated the comments that you have made to support others. Thank you for joining the class and I look forward to working with you in the future. (Seam allowances really can make or break a project, can't they!)"

Heather Somerville reviewed: Introduction to glass fusion Morning half day taster (beginners)

"What a great workshop! A very chilled out morning spent learning a new craft - so good to be out again after being in Lockdown for months! All sensible social distancing and hygiene precautions were in place and Sally had even gone to the trouble of making a transparent face mask for herself so I could lipread what she was saying....thank you! Sally is a fab teacher and made the workshop great fun; I can't wait to see the final results of my efforts and I'm looking forward to the candle making course in 2 weeks time!"

Craft Workshops responded:

"Thank you Heather - it was lovely to have you along for the first Workshop back! Really enjoyed the morning and your glass fusion pieces are going to be great. Look forward to seeing you again very soon :)"

martin chamberlain reviewed: Blacksmithing - one to one - Hammer Skills

"Can’t recommend this course highly enough. Bob was fantastic and incredibly patient and made the day really enjoyable. I wasn’t entirely sure the course would be for me - I’m fairly sedentary and work in an office type environment. However I was wrong - it is truly something anyone can have a try at. Bob also went above and beyond in the afternoon session (where we make something specific) when I’d asked about making a gecko! Not something they’d ever done but with a bit of research, thought and trial and error we made a fantastic gecko! Thank you and I’m hoping someone will buy me another lesson for my birthday later in the year!"

Joel Warburton reviewed: French Polishing & Woodcare - Beginners Course - 1 Day

"Fantastic course by Ollie. For me, it ticked all the boxes. Ollie is extremely knowledgable but also patient and thorough with great attention to detail. Just the sort of instructor you need on these type of courses. He is also very open and happy to share commercial advice if you are interested in making this a job/paid hobby. It was also productive, Ollie tailored the day to ensure I got my piece of furniture finished and whilst learning so much along the way. I was still learning right up until the last minute of the course, and it continues, as I have just been sent a set of comprehensive notes. On top of all that it was fun and chatting with Ollie and the other student Ben made it a great day. You can tell Ollie works hard to make his training a success and it absolutely delivers. Highly recommended."

Dave reviewed: Beginners candle making kit + online videos + live online workshop

"I had my reservations about signing up for an online craft workshop, but these were soon forgotten once the course started. Sarah's passion for candlemaking is obvious and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I was particularly inspired by Sarah's suggestions on different containers that could be used for candles and a number of bottle tops and other objects have now been upcycled and given a new lease of life."

Candle by Events responded:

"Thank you Dave, really pleased you enjoyed the workshop."

Justin Jordan-Davis reviewed: Explore your camera part 1 - Get off Auto

"I completed the part 1 beginner photography courses with Sid Smallman from Going Digital Devon and Cornwall. Part 1 was held at Dartington Hall, Devon, and was a combination of classroom (mainly theory) and on location (practical). As a complete novice to DSLR photography, Sid pitches the course at the right level so all key beginner aspects of the camera and photography are understood by all. I will mention that there was a mixture of student ability on the course. What I mean by this is that some students were complete beginners, like me, and some students were already keen DSLR photographers but wanted to improve their photography skills and/or knowledge. Camera and photography theory was well delivered in PowerPoint and via handouts; the handouts were very handy to make notes on and take home for revision. The theory was then reinforced with good practical exercises, a few exercises were in the classroom but the majority of the exercises were on location at Dartington Hall. On location, Sid was always around to give handy reminders and tips, but he also gave us all enough photography freedom to begin to develop our own photography style. He would make suggestions as to how we could improve, and give technical feedback on how to use our cameras in the right way to get the results we were looking for. The end of the day was summarised with Sid reviewing the students photographs. Constructive feedback was given to each student in turn, highlighting both our strong points and then making suggestions as to where improvements could be made. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable day with lots to take in and put into practice."

Maria reviewed: Pottery wheel throwing taster

"Never had any experience with pottery before, and the tester session was all worth it. I enjoyed it throughout, I found it much easier and person centred than in any school/ college environment. Made two pots and definitely will be back for more. Highly recommended."
