Weekly morning stone carving sessions in Somerset with Sculptor Kate Semple
Kate Semple has been running courses at her workshop in rural Somerset for the past 15 years, and has a very loyal following. Kate believes the best way to learn a skill is to practice it over time, and with weekly classes students can really begin to form a true understanding of the process. Everybody designs their own carving, and is guided through step by step in a friendly, busy workshop. Kate also organizes trips for her students for added inspiration. Book early as the courses fill very quickly. Kate runs 5 sessions a week, Monday pm, Tuesday am and pm and Saturday am and pm, all details are on the website.

Kate has been working with stone for over 25 years. She began as a stone mason, employed for a number of years before returning to her art roots and taking the plunge to become a sculptor. Her work ranges from large public sculptures to small tactile carvings to hold in the hand and everything in between. She has developed an effective way of teaching stone carving over the years, breaking the process down into steps. She never ceases to be amazed by what students manage to produce.
