Budding artists can head to Carmarthen in Wales to try their hand at the intricate art of stone carving with this 2 day Stone House Carving course, the ideal option for creative types looking for an out-of-the-ordinary escape this summer.
For the Beginner:
During the stone carving course you will learn how to draw out and carve a design in relief such as a York Rose or a Green Man.
To begin with you will learn what types of stone are best for carving and how to use the specialist tools. If you progress well and complete your first piece you will be able to move onto a design of your own. The course will teach you enough to be able to complete a second carving at home.
For the Improver:
You are encouraged to bring with you a design, sketch or model of something you would like to carve. If the design is feasible you will be given advice and tutoring on how to go about carving your own design or how it might be adapted to suit the medium of stone.
On Completion of the Course:
At the end of the course you will be able to take home at least one completed stone carving. We will also provide you with information about where to purchase tools and equipment to continue and develop your skills at home.
The courses are kept to a maximum number of 7 so that tutoring can be focused around the individual.
We can offer tailor made packages to suit individual or group requirements.
