Description

Even if you’ve never picked up a chisel before, you’ll take away a work of art you’ll be proud of at the end of your two-day course at the Ticket Office Studio. You’ll enjoy good company, great food, and expert guidance from David. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace. There’s no pressure to perform! We’ll provide the stone, all the tools you need, plus safety goggles and an apron. There's plenty of tea, coffee and cold drinks available during the day, as well as sweet treats to keep up the energy levels! At lunchtime, you'll join your fellow carvers for a delicious home cooked lunch and a chance to relax, compare notes, or just enjoy the conversation before the afternoon shift.

What's included in the price?

All stone is provided, along with tools, safety goggles and an apron. We do ask that you wear stout shoes for safety, and comfortable clothes that won’t suffer when they get dusty! The studio can be a bit chilly if the weather is poor so layers are a good idea too. We provide coffee and tea with home made cakes and a delicious home cooked lunch. In fact, many of our visitors enjoy the food just as much as the carving! Depending on the time of year lunch might be home cooked ham or salmon with a selection of salads or a hearty lasagne followed by desert. There is always a vegetarian option but if you do have specific dietary requirements just let us know when you book. We're not able to provide accommodation but can recommend options nearby if you are travelling any distance. PLEASE NOTE THIS COURSE RUNS OVER TWO DAYS (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY). THE DATES SHOWN ARE THE FIRST DAY OF EACH COURSE AND YOUR BOOKING WILL COVER BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

"We have just completed a 2 day course with David and it was absolutely brilliant. Neither of us had tried anything like it before, but under David's expert and patient guidance we both came home with a completed and recognisable (!)sculpture each. The two days were extremely informative and relaxing and the company wonderful. This was all topped off by Kaye's amazing lunches and morning and afternoon snacks :-) We would highly recommend this course to anyone as all levels are catered for or if you just want a relaxing, fun weekend trying your hand at something different - great gift idea. "A thoroughly enjoyable weekend. David is patient and extremely helpful in guiding beginners. To be able to produce an item after just two days of carving is highly rewarding. The lunches were fantastic and the mid-morning and mid-afternoon tea breaks (with brownies) were most welcome. I definitely plan to revisit and try a more ambitious project. This course is a definite must for the aspiring stone carver."

"My wife bought me this course as a surprise and i coukdnt have asked for anything better. We had a warm welcome from David and Kaye and they looked after us (four in the group) in every aspect. All of us were total beginners but by the end of the 2 days we talked away (albeit dustier) with a finished piece of work. David is an excellent tutor and gives just the right amount of advice whilst leaving you to create your vision Kaye was the ultimate host and her cakes, biscuits and lunches were superb. "A great way of being absorbed in the moment! And producing something at the end of it. Light touch tuition from Dave worked really well with timely nudges to keep me (and my creation) on track. Worked on a lump of Cotswold stone which transformed from a sleeping dog to a squashed squirrel? to finish as an abstract piece I've called "twins". Great hospitality throughout from Kaye with mid morning/afternoon coffee and cake stops in addition to two delicious mid day meals. A fab way to spend two creative days. Thanks."

"This course was excellent. The class sizes are small (3 people when I did it) and so we all got lots of time with Dave. The introduction to the tools and techniques was very thorough and we were then left to let our imaginations run wild. Dave was on hand to continually monitor progress and offer advice. Kaye, Dave’s wife was also on hand to provide fantastic coffee and cake breaks as well as massive lunches. Overall, I was very satisfied and pleased with my stone carving. I’ve still no idea what it is but it takes pride of place in my conservatory. Highly recommended."
