• Sept 16-17 : Get that Quilt Finished
o Part 1 - Quilting our projects is often the most challenging part of making a quilt. During this day you will learn about setting up your machine for successful quilting using your walking foot, the effect of using different threads, different quilting designs including linear, concentric, radiating and spirals, and making use of the decorative stitches on your machine
o Part 2 – Using a previously completed quilt top (or a piece of plain fabric – a “Wholecloth”), learn how to layer it up, quilt it and bind it. There will be opportunity for a little excursion into FMQ, if you want to try. (You will need to be able to drop your feed dogs). You will receive help and support in choosing an appropriate quilting design and in binding your quilt. How to add a hanging sleeve will also be included. The amount of work completed by each participant will depend on their existing skills and pace of work
• Nov 11-12 : Make it for Christmas
This is your chance to be Christmas Creative! Choose one of the options below
o Create a completely unique Advent Calendar – one that will be loved by its recipient long after the initial year. The use of non-traditional fabrics together with interesting trimmings will make for something really special.
o 4-Card Trick Table Runner –This can be made in traditional or contemporary Christmas fabrics or fabrics that reflect your home décor. It can be made to a length that fits your table by adjusting the number of blocks used. Make it as a purely decorative piece, or use thermal wadding so that it can protect your table from those hot dishes.
o Christmas Quilt Top – Go to town with Christmas fabrics to make a wonderful Random Rail Fence Quilt top. During this workshop, you will be able to complete the top, and discuss ideas for borders and finishing..
