About the Course
The Mixed Media painting course helps prepare you to sustain your art practice by providing a structured but experimental approach to your personal practice, giving you the confidence to develop and express ideas creatively and to expand your understanding of historic and contemporary art.
You will work through a series of projects which will broaden your knowledge of a range of artists, artworks, and genres. Your final creative product will be the result of a combination of materials and methods borrowed primarily from painting but also from other artistic disciplines. Each section will focus on a particular area of Mixed Media within contemporary Fine Art practice, and will develop your understanding of the historical context through testing of a variety of practical models and techniques, and encourage you to pursue an individual and inventive art practice.
The Open College of the Arts is a non-profit educational charity offering arts education through open and flexible distance learning methods. You will receive support from a one-to-one tutor who is also an arts practitioner and you will become part of a thriving UK and international student community.
All of our part time distance learning Open degrees are awarded by the University for the Creative Arts (UCA). We have an exceptional range of part-time Open courses at Higher Education level in painting, drawing, photography, music, illustration, graphic design, creative writing, textiles, sculpture, printmaking, art history and film.
