This one day workshop is an introduction to natural dyeing using plants. You will learn how to prepare fibres and then make several botanic dyes using traditional, foraged and garden plants. These are dyed on to small hanks of British wool and locally sourced fleece.
The course takes place in a lovely woodland setting, where there is a shelter to work in and a compost toilet. Please wear sensible footwear as paths are uneven and bring your lunch and drinking water. Also needed are an apron and rubber gloves. Hand sanitiser will be available at the shelter and toilet.
Susan trained as a Textile designer and has been teaching craft workshops in spinning and natural dyeing for the last 10 years. She mainly uses dye materials from her garden and collected in the local woods and fleece from the area. She is endlessly fascinated by the colours produced from plants and is mindful of sustainability in her work.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
