Come and join ceramic artist Alison Waters and mosaic artist Tracey Cartledge for an exciting and brand new double workshop.
Saturday 2nd July, 10am - 4pm - Day 1 - Working with Clay
The morning will be spent exploring mark making on paper - how can we use traditional materials and found objects to create marks? Enjoy experimenting and taking the time to build your own library of marks.
The afternoon will be an opportunity to transfer your marks onto clay tiles, ready for firing and to be used in your mosaic. Learn how to roll out clay tiles and experiment creating beautiful textures and marks on the surface using a variety of tools and clay slip. Alison will then fire the tiles ready for you to cut up and use in session 2.
Saturday 23rd July, 10am - 4pm - Day 2 - Mosaic Composition
Create a composition incorporating your fired ceramic tile pieces together with a selection from a wide range of available mosaic materials, both traditional e.g. marble, coloured glass and contemporary e.g. manufactured ceramics, found objects etc.
This double workshop opens up a wealth of possibilities and a great opportunity for creative experimentation. Both artists will be on hand at each session to offer guidance and advice.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
All materials are included in the price. Tools will be provided and plenty of refreshments throughout the day. Please bring a packed lunch.
