Description

Come and join ceramic artist Alison Waters and mosaic artist Tracey Cartledge for an exciting and brand new double workshop. Sunday 2nd June 2024, 10am - 4pm - Day 1 - Working with Clay The morning will be spent exploring mark making on paper - how can we use traditional materials and found objects to create marks? Enjoy experimenting and taking the time to build your own library of marks. The afternoon will be an opportunity to transfer your marks onto clay tiles, ready for firing and to be used in your mosaic. Learn how to roll out clay tiles and experiment creating beautiful textures and marks on the surface using a variety of tools and clay slip. Alison will then fire the tiles ready for you to cut up and use in session 2. Sunday 23rd June 2023, 10am - 4pm - Day 2 - Mosaic Composition Create a composition incorporating your fired ceramic tile pieces together with a selection from a wide range of available mosaic materials, both traditional e.g. marble, coloured glass and contemporary e.g. manufactured ceramics, found objects etc. This double workshop opens up a wealth of possibilities and a great opportunity for creative experimentation. Both artists will be on hand at each session to offer guidance and advice.
