Description

Ever wanted to use up scraps of material from other projects? Or have you just finished a quilt, and want to make a coordinating smaller piece with all of your offcuts? Till paper scrap quilting is a great technique for using up all of those small bits of fabric! We'll focus on learning this technique of using till roll paper to sew scraps of fabric together. It is a foundation piecing technique that uses paper till or receipt rolls. The final project you make is up to you ... you could focus on building a stash of beautiful till rolls for future projects, or add some backing material and make a placemat, table runner or a small baby quilt. This day will be focusing on the "top" of the piece. (Particularly if you decide to make something larger like a quilt). We are running a separate session next month to talk you through the layering, quilting & binding. A small piece such as a placemat or table runner could be finished on the day. So you can focus on the technique alone, or create a beautiful and coulourful project of your choice. Come along and try something new!

What's included in the price?

Bring your collection of fabric scraps and some plain fabric for the background and backing. Quilting cotton fabric is best, but you can also use offcuts from clothing or bedding that your family has loved. We'll bring some fabric scraps too, to make sure you have a good selection of colours for your till rolls. We'll also bring some plain white sheeting fabric to help you build up a placemat or table runner if you need it. Please bring your sewing machine and a neutral sewing thread. The till roll paper will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch for the day or you can buy yours in the Morrison's cafe. We will have some supplies for this course, that have have been provided through generous donations from other crafters to add you your own. Please bring your own lunch or lunch can be purchased in at the Morrisons' cafe or shop. ** We are a small charity devoted to getting people into craft. We aim to keep our workshop price as low as possible in order to make it as accessible as we can. We are always taking in donations of fabric and craft supplies, which we put towards future projects. So if you are clearing out your cupboards, please feel free to bring anything to the session that needs a new home. ** Children (10 years & up) are welcome at the session, but they must be accompanied by an adult (with a separate ticket). If you have any disabilities or support needs we will do our best to accommodate you. Please just drop us an email ahead of time to talk it through.
