Join artist Julie Galante for this online workshop in which you’ll make paper collages out of recycled and reused materials. Collage is a way of creating a visual work of art by combining different elements - be they found images, patterns, bits of text, textured papers - in new and sometimes unexpected ways.
This workshop, which will be delivered via Zoom, is suitable for absolute beginners - no previous experience with collage required! Julie will provide step-by-step demonstrations and guide you through making your own small landscapes.
To prepare for the workshop, you’ll start collecting various bits of paper that you come across in your daily life. This can include newspapers and magazines, flyers, advertisements, packaging, photos, gift wrap, instruction sheets, pretty much anything! One of the things we love about collage is repurposing materials that would otherwise end up in the recycling bin. In the workshop, you'll arrange and combine these collected items to create unique pieces of art.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
Two hours of live workshop (via Zoom) in a small group.
You'll need a stack of newspapers, magazines, envelopes and other found papers; scissors; a glue stick or paper glue; and a photo or two of a favourite landscape for inspiration.

What a great workshop! I'm not the most artistic person and haven't made art since I was a child. I signed up for this workshop because I was looking for a new creative outlet and thought it could be fun to try collage, which I've never done before. The group was lovely and Julie made us all feel welcome. Her guidance and explanations were clear and helpful. I realised collage-making is not only fun and creative but also meditative. I loved ripping up newspapers, getting glue everywhere, and making a mess – it made me feel like a kid again!
Response from Airtily:Thank you, Nicole! I'm so glad you enjoyed the workshop.
I got so much enjoyment from this workshop and I was surprised and pleased with the collage I made. Prior to taking this workshop I had not done anything arty since I was made to at school, a long, long time ago, but I wanted to try something different now that I have more time on my hands. I was therefor a little nervous about joining this workshop, but I was immediately put at ease because Julie created a friendly, inclusive and supportive environment and the others taking the class were also lovely and supportive of each other. I actually enjoyed taking this workshop so much back in February, that I've signed up to do it again in May!
Response from Airtily:Thank you so much, Rachel! I'm so glad you enjoyed the workshop, and I look forward to seeing you again at the next one.
