Join us for this Soap Making Workshop at our fabulous new venue at Barton Upon Humber. Soap Making Workshop using beautiful essential oils and natural botanicals. A lovely workshop aimed at those new to soap making where you will learn how to make your own natural and handmade artisan soaps using the cold process method. This will be a fun and hands on workshop with lots of opportunities to try different ingredients. You will use natural butters, fats and oils, alongside essential oils, botanicals and natural ingredients to create your individual and personal blend of fragrance, colour and decoration. Overview of the day: Arrival Tea/Coffee & Biscuits & Introductions Brief history and basic chemistry of cold process soap making Look at the Cold Process Soap samples The difference between alternative types of Soap The benefits of making our own Soap Raw ingredients and store cupboard essentials. Equipment for Soap Making Sodium Hydroxide and Lye Safety Natural Essential Oils and the therapeutic benefits. Botanicals and additives including the use of lavender, flowers like rose petals, herbs, oats and poppy seeds. Colouring your soaps with natural ingredients like spices, clays and oxides Demonstration of Soap making, mixing and blending. Soap making practical, everyone will be supported along and receive individual support. Experimenting with ingredients making two batches of Soap each Cutting, Curing and storing finished Soap. Conclusion of the day with questions and answers. This will be a fun and relaxed workshop with the opportunity to experiment with different ingredients. The day is structured to allow you to have a very hands on experience, this ensures that you leave with the skills to make your own soap again at home.
