Inspired by Bloomsbury: exploring a mixed media approach - FULLY BOOKED

Description

Next promoted date: Saturday 25th January 2025 Join us in the heart of the Meon Valley, for a colour filled workshop, inspired by Bloomsbury designs and patterns. A mixed bunch of flowers in a favourite vase or jug is a simple pleasure and one that cheers; add a favourite ornament or two and you have a beautiful still life. Numerous artists, such as Emma Dunbar, Debbie George, Emily Maudey and Jo Aylward, create images exploring the pattern, shape and colour of floral images. However, the Bloomsbury artists, including Vanessa Bell, Roger Fry and Duncan Grant, are the ultimate influencers of this relaxed, domestic imagery. If you’ve ever visited Charleston House in Sussex, you’ll be aware of how every surface is covered with colour, pattern and decoration, making it such an inspirational place. The workshop will be delivered by Alison Butler of Blooming Designs. With over 25 years of experience as a textile designer and book illustrator, Alison will guide you through a range of exciting mixed media approaches, including collage, drawing and painting. This workshop is suitable for those with a range of creative experiences, looking to explore their collage, drawing and painting skills. We will hold the workshop in our beautiful thatched Long Barn at Meon Springs or in our smaller adjacent venue, The Stables. They are inspiring venues set on a working farm in the South Downs National Park. Please bring along: an apron, a newspaper and an A3 folder to transport your work home, a large pale plate or flat palette and a pencil case.

The workshop will run from 10 - 4 pm, with places limited to 5, including tuition, materials and use of equipment, with refreshments served throughout the day; just bring your lunch.
