About the Course
Join me for a fun session learning to etch glass. Through the use of stencils and etching cream we will apply our own permanent designs to glassware. Create beautiful gifts, seasonal decorations, and fun yet functional household items.
This process is very accessible for all skill levels; I will provide lots of stickers for those less confident in their artistic ability, whilst others may choose to cut their own intricate designs!
Once you know the basics this is a technique that can be further explored at home. Chemical etching creates a permanent opaque surface, ideal for decorating functional items as they may be washed and heated to the manufacturers’ original specifications.
You will be provided with a 20cm circular mirror and a tumbler. Additional items will be available to purchase on the day, better still please bring along your own glassware. Etching cream is a particularly great way to transform plain household items, or why not visit your local charity shop and collect some glass objects with the potential to transform... glassware from the recycling bin may also be given a new lease of life!
I will begin the session by introducing a range of simple techniques to create and apply your own stencil design, then demonstrate the use of glass etching cream. There will be plenty of tea and cake to boost creativity too. Not only will you take home your glass creations, but also a crib-sheet with recommended stockists, plus instructions so that you can keep etching at home!
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

Jenny is a superb teacher and we had a great afternoon, leaving proudly with an etched mirror and tumbler. She inspired us to be creative and individual, to produce high quality objects in a very relaxed atmosphere with lovely tea and homemade cake. Thank you so much Jenny. I will be recommending you to friends.

I would just like to say a huge thank you for a most amazing afternoon. A warm welcome helped to ease my nerves and with friendly expert advice I have created glass work which I am so very proud of. I am no artist but with your help, support and patience I have created Christmas gifts which are stunning.
I definitely have the glass etching bug and will continue to explore and develop my skills and abilities.
The other students were friendly, the cake was delicious and on leaving I felt relaxed and fulfilled.
Its very hard as a working mum to make time for yourself but I am so pleased I took this opportunity and will recommend it to all my friends and family.
Thank you so much Jenny

The training / instruction was excellent giving us all the information to be able to come away and carry on learning at home making unique gifts for friends. We would highly recommend Jenny and this course to anyone who was interested in glass etching or just looking for a new hobby. Thank you Jenny.
