Gelli Plate Experimental Monoprinting

Using rubber bands and textured layers with honesty mono line print layered on top

Gelli plate printing is a fun, versatile and captivating process that will unleash your creativity !

The plate is a gelatinous surface on which you apply your wet medium and then lift your print; no press is required. There are limitless ways to work into the surface with stunning and often surprising results. Each print you create is totally unique, a one off.

In this introductory workshop you will be experimenting with stencils, masking and texture and you will then be adding further collage and monoline printed layers. I will start you off experimenting on a small plate to build your confidence before you then move onto a larger plate.

At the end of the day you will have a staggering array of prints to take home.

Each print stands on it's own as a print in it's own right but you can also develop the print further using a range of media. Gelli plate printing is popular with Fine Artists and Mixed-Media artists who use the surfaces created as backgrounds for example portrait drawings or abstract paintings.

You will enjoy learning in a peaceful setting in my garden studio. The small groups ensure that you pick up the skills quickly with expert guidance.
