About the Course

Mosaic course with award winning artist and tutor, Kate Rattray who has 25 years of mosaic experience.

Suitable for students with some experience in glass or mosaic. Come and discover how to create texture, play with reflection and colour. On this exciting course you have the freedom to experiment and mix different types of glass such as smalti, stained glass and glass marbles with slate, marble and ceramics.

Where to stay:
There are some luxury cottages in and around Chewton Mendip, and plenty of accommodation in Wells or Bath.
Wells is England’s smallest city. It’s historic centre boasts a beautiful cathedral and the Bishops Palace. You can also visit the famous ‘dragon mosaic’ along moat walk built by Kate and local schools to tell the legend of the Worminster Dragon.
Bath ...
Bath is a beautiful old city only 15 miles from the studio. The Roman Baths and the Abbey are worth exploring.

About the tutor:
Kate is a skilled mosaic teacher and practicing mosaic artist. She has been running mosaic workshops since 1996, for adults and children. From 2000 - 2006 she was a mosaic tutor with Adult Learning and Leisure. Now she runs private courses in various venues.

Want to review this course?

I did this course with my sister and I have to say we had a wonderful time. Kate was great, she was there when you needed her but happy to let you get on with it at the same time. Learnt lots more beyond the basics of mosaicing as the butterfly we made was for the outside. All explained coherently and lots of different materials to choose from. Would highly recommend for a relaxing day out. In a lovely setting too, I will be back.
