About the Course

The perfect art course for insect and butterfly lovers!

Butterflies are amongst our most well-known and well-loved insects. They are also important pollinators. This watercolour painting day gives those of us who are fascinated by these ethereal creatures, the chance to study them and paint them in wonderful detail. This unique and absorbing workshop is aimed at lovers of painting, entomology, and pollination. You don’t have to be an expert in either, but you need to be fascinated by both! Each student will have the use of high powered microscopes to study the anatomical beauty of these delicate creatures, and will use specimens and macro photographic material to produce a detailed and unique painting of a British butterfly. Students will learn how butterflies taste their food, how they eat their food, how they pollinate, how they create those beautiful patterns on their wings and how they protect themselves against predators.
