Description

Drawing workshops in which students will learn to draw in charcoal from a selection of plaster casts from masters such as Bernini, Michaelangelo and Donatello. Drawing from casts is a highly recommended starting point when it comes to getting to grips with the traditional ‘sight-size’ technique, enabling the student to render form using light and shadow without the complications of colour or using a live model. Sight-size is not just a method of measurement but a philosophy of seeing used by the old masters that dates back to the 17th century. It is a great foundation for artist of all abilities and can be applied to many other visual art forms. Small class sizes mean that beginners will come on a long way in a short space of time and students will be able to complete their pieces to a frame-worthy standard. The course will take place in a spacious and naturally lit barn set in the peaceful Cotswold countryside, half way between Bath and Bristol. Manor Farm is easily accessible, although If you’re in need of accommodation, there are a few options available on Manor Farm’s website.
