About the Course

Would you like to make your own wedding headpiece or race going fascinator to wear this autumn to an upcoming special event? Then take a look at this millinery course designed especially for beginners, led by milliner Margaret Woodliff Wright, at Linnels Farm.

Margaret will be hosting her very first Linnels Farm course in their newly purpose built creative studio. Excited by the floral filled environment of Linnels Farm, Margaret has created a stunning Dahlia style headpiece. On this course she will be showing you how to create a headpiece of your very own ready for any winter weddings or events you may be attending. After morning coffee and cake, Margaret will guide your through the colour and style selection for your dahlia, followed by a demonstration of how to cut and shape your petals. After a leisurely lunch we will begin to construct the dahlia, and end by applying the finishing touches to your headpiece or corsage!

No previous millinery experience is required, and there is only a little amount of hand sewing involved as this class has been designed as a beginners “no sew class”.

Margaret is “The Northumberland Milliner” and has led millinery workshops in a number of prestigious locations including The Bowes Museum, The Laing Art Gallery, as well as around her cosy kitchen table! With a showroom in Alnwick and a studio in central Newcastle; she has been involved in millinery since graduating with high distinctions in Couture Millinery from Leeds College of Art in 2013. She has a special interest in up cycling and recycling, and her millinery creations have been seen on catwalk shows and at exhibitions around the world, her work has also been featured regularly on social media and magazines. In September 2018 she was delighted to be “hat hunted” by Gok Wan as the resident milliner for his latest road show “One size fits all”.

Karen Phillips of Linnels Farm wrote “We are delighted Margaret is joining us at Linnels Farm to share some of the wealth of her millinery knowledge, and we know that you will find her enthusiasm for millinery infectious!” Looking foward to seeing your there!

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

Morning coffee & cakes; 2 course gourmet style lunch by ‘Papaya’ included.
