About the Course
Join eco-printing artists Issy Denton and Sue Ripley for a full day of eco-printing and create beautiful prints, colours and textures on paper from the foliage of locally-gathered plants and trees.
During this session you will be using two different eco-printing processes - a steam and a natural dye bath simmer - the processing techniques both offer exciting, but very different, colour results.
The day also includes a local walk, where you will have time to forage and gather your own selection of plants and leaves for the eco-print "bundle" you will create in the afternoon.
Note: Please check the weather on the day of the workshop and please dress accordingly, making sure you wear comfortable walking shoes. Please advise us when booking of any mobility issues, so we can adapt the workshop accordingly.
This very hands-on workshop will allow time to create a minimum of two exciting concertina eco-print "bundles", using two different processing techniques and various leaf and foliage combinations.
Only natural dyes and non-toxic mordants are used in all of the processes.
This workshop will provide you with the basic knowledge of the process of eco-printing on to paper and allows you to leave with the confidence to continue experimenting at home.

Sue and Isobel had prepared really well - everything we needed (including plenty of plant material) was available, they had lots of examples to inspire us and the pre-joining information was helpful.
Their teaching style is relaxed and friendly, there's a good balance between instruction and encouragement to try different things and they keep to time well.
We produced some very pleasing results.
The only thing extra I would have liked was a "reminder" sheet of the processes and materials to take away and use in addition to my own notes and photos.

I attended this course in Leeds recently and thoroughly enjoyed it! Issy and Sue were friendly, helpful and informative, and I learnt a lot. The process is so enjoyable, and it's really fun to unwrap your prints and see how they've turned out!
