About the Course
I will never intentionally not respond if you contact me. If you think I haven't responded, please check your spam folder, and if there is nothing there send me another message.
I offer Saturday workshops to cover a specific skill or project. Starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm, you will have a great time learning new skills and honing existing ones.
These are amazing opportunities to get high quality teaching in very small classes - without breaking the bank! Each workshop will cover a specified skill or short project. Contact me to check which workshop will run on which date.
Workshops for the coming year will cover the following:
Free Motion Quilting
Quilting our projects is often the most challenging part of making a quilt. During this day you will learn about caring for yourself and your machine, setting up your machine for successful free motion quilting, different quilting designs, needles and threads.
If you have never tried patchwork and quilting this is the day for you. You will be able to make a small (approx 20” sq) simple quilt top comprising 16 patches, layer it up with wadding and backing fabric, quilt it and bind it.
Beyond the ditch
Why is quilting your project so difficult? You know what it is like, you follow the instructions to create the quilt top and you reckon you have it all nailed. Then there is that phrase that strikes dread into our hearts ………………… “Quilt as Desired”. This course will give you opportunity to look at lots of different designs that you can achieve with quilting using your walking foot
The Somerset Star design is a 3-Dimensional design created from folding fabrics. It makes a super picture. Small versions make lovely cards. Made in Christmas fabrics you have Christmas cards all sorted.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
All tuition, relevant supporting worksheets and a steady supply of tea, coffee, biscuits etc are included. Please bring a packed lunch.
You will need to provide your own fabrics and bring your sewing machine.
I booked a VIP 1day workshop on 15th September for a day of learning the skills and techniques of quilting. My VIP day did not disappoint! As there were only three of us (myself and two daughters), all totally new to quilting, we received lots of individual attention, so progressing through the techniques well.
Sheena is a great teacher, explaining and demonstrating carefully. She’s also brilliant at ‘sorting’ it with humour, when things go wrong, which they did!!! (I had ‘wonky’ eyes as I’d had a cataract operation only ten days before!).
I learned so much.
I was inspired to continue and finish my practice piece during the week following the course and I now can’t wait to try some more quilting. Thanks Sheena - a brilliant day...

I booked the “free motion quilting day” as this was an area that I wanted to develop. The class was small which allowed us to have one to one tuition when r required. The day was enjoyable and being able to discuss things with other students was very helpful. Sheena had a relaxed way of teaching which made me feel that I could ask questions freely.
All in all a very good day and I came home wanting to practice and move forward with this skill .
I have booked another day with Sheena on Jelly Roll Quilts

My day of “free motion quilting” was enjoyable, informative and inspiring. Sheena has a great knack of sharing her knowledge in a humorous way. She encourages and motivates and gives tips and short-cuts to simplify tasks. The limited class size means that you get plenty of one-to-one time with Sheena as well as discussion and sharing ideas with the other students. I learned so much
