"What an excellent day I had yesterday on the one day hare course. Came away with something I felt proud of and want to display out in the open and not at the back of a cupboard. Jo is a very patient and talented teacher. Would definitely recommend this course to anyone one"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Penny! Your moongazing hare was gorgeous and very much deserves prime display position. So pleased you enjoyed the day. Jo xx"

Richard Greenwood reviewed: Small human sculpture kit (30cm)

"Having bought and received a sculpture kit from you recently, I thought I would drop you a line, as I have totally enjoyed the challenge. As my first attempt at sculpting your kit gave me the confidence to give it try. I chose a tricky pose I had seen a picture of recently, despite being reinforced with wire up the legs from the improvised base she was quite wobbly until the clay hardened. I’ve learned so much I’m sure I can improve on this however I’m very pleased with the results."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Wow Richard - thank you so much for this lovely review and sending me the photos of your dancer. I am amazed you created a standing sculpture without extra base support - fabulous work! Thank you for letting me pop the photos onto the website. Enjoy your new skill. Jo xx"

Inga reviewed: Slate mosaic workshop at Jo Garden Art

"I can certainly confirm that Jo enables "people of any skill to achieve something they did not expect". The slate workshop was the second in-person workshop I've done with Jo in her gorgeous garden studio. It was a bit scary making something abstract and not having specific steps to follow, but there is plenty of time, encouragement and tea, and a wide range of slate, stones, glass, mosaic pieces and more. From an initial mild panic about my efforts going nowhere, two great pieces of slate art emerged. In fact every artwork created in that workshop was lovely and would look good on a wall. Amazing! The other workshop I have done with Jo was making an outdoor hare sculpture, which turned out to be an impressive focal point for the garden. Step by step Jo shows and then coaches you through each stage. Each workshop with Jo has been a fabulous time away in a relaxed setting, with wonderful hospitality and I have come away with creations that I certainly didn't expect to be as good as they are. Highly recommended, even for those who don't think they are very artistic."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much for this wonderful review Inga! It was lovely having you and your friends back in the studio once again. As you mention, everyone's work was gorgeous. Hope to see you again soon, Jo xx"

"What a fantastic day, from start to finish. Jo could not have been a better host and facilitator; she made us feel so welcome and at ease, patiently guiding us through each step of the process of making our hares with such skill and clarity. I am so pleased with my moon-gazing hare! Now I can't wait to make another hare from the kit I brought home with me and I hope to attend another course soon. Thank you, too, to Andy for all the cups of coffee!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Helen! It was a great workshop and I hope you enjoy making your hare kit at home. I look forward to seeing you back in the studio! Jo x"

Jeannine reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"What a fantastic day! From starting with a coffee at 9am to leaving with our treasured sculptures eight hours later, the whole experience of making a hare from scratch was meticulously planned. Jo was very welcoming, highly experienced, and patient, with all the different stages of construction perfectly timed. There are opportunities to personalise your own hare, so that no two are ever alike. And Jo’s beautiful studio is set in the most beautiful position, with many of Jo’s own sculptures to admire. Never having ever done anything like this before, I would thoroughly recommend this course (although wonderful for more experienced sculptors too I should think as Jo will give as much, or as little, guidance as you need). I am absolutely delighted with my ‘running hare’ and quite amazed that I was able to make such a wonderful thing! Thank you Jo - it was ALL fantastic!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thanks Jeannine! We are so lucky to live in this gorgeous location. Your running hare was fabulous - so much movement! Hope to see you again, Jo x"

Rita Lenko reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"My husband and I were gifted a voucher for a 1-day workshop with Jo. We did not know what to expect as neither one of us has ever done any sculpting work before. It was amazing! Jo and her husband Andy are the most welcoming hosts and we were treated to endless supplies of coffee and tea and snacks and chocolate. We enjoyed ourselves immensely! Jo's wonderfully easygoing nature made us feel as if we had always done sculpting. Clear instructions, always on hand to offer advice without interfering, and offering plenty of helpful hints and tips. Our hares are pieces of art to behold and we are thrilled with our work. The next visit will be a 2-day workshop, we cannot wait to get back to Jo's studio. Totally recommend the experience, book now ... you will love every minute of the workshop. We loved the experience! Thank you, Jo and Andy, and the canine and feline support team. Robert and Rita "

"Wow - what a wonderful review - thank you Robert & Rita. It was a pleasure working with you and seeing your hares develop. Looking forward to seeing you back in the studio for a two day workshop! Jo x"

"Amazing day. Had lots of fun and thoroughly enjoyed making my lovely hare which I was very proud to take home. Learnt many new skills, which were carefully instructed by Jo at each stage, making the whole process very easy to follow. Beautiful work studio and surroundings which made the perfect setting for a perfect day. "

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Wendy - your looking back hare was gorgeous. You worked the plaster layer like a sculptor; really lovely to watch. Very happy you enjoyed the day. Jo x"

Jane reviewed: Slate mosaic workshop at Jo Garden Art

"I had been on one of Jo's sculpture workshops and saw her slate mosaic work then and really liked them. When she said she was developing a workshop, I was first in line! I was not disappointed, right from the start the whole group became absorbed in creating very individual pieces. The slate was gorgeous, almost works of art themselves, and there was lots of interesting glass and other materials to truly make a unique piece of art. Jo supplies hanging hooks, so I put mine up as soon as I got home. A fabulous day with amazing results!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Jane - your work was lovely! Delighted to hear you popped them up on the wall when you got home. I really enjoy looking out for old pieces of slate to use, as you say - works of art in themselves. Jo x"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Julia! We do pack a lot in during the day, but each stage is so different the process just flows. Well done on making your large hare - he was stunning! Jo x"

Wendy Lewis reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"I made a five foot crane in the two days. This is my second workshop, having also made the lady balancing on her hands. Jo and Andy are very welcoming, and the studio space is perfect for getting immersed with making your sculpture. It is very well equipped and organised. Jo is very knowledgable, supportive and encouraging, and I have had great results both times. I will be back! "

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Wendy - your crane was large and lovely!!! I hope the colours are still developing and he/she will take pride of place in your garden. Still cannot believe we managed to get it into your car 😄. Looking forward to the next adventure! Jo x"

Heidi Turtill reviewed: Slate mosaic workshop at Jo Garden Art

"This was an interesting delve into something abstract and different in Jo's idyllic studio. I ended up completely absorbed in the freedom to create a very unique and individual piece of art. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the process, the outcome, the studio and Jo's guidance and hospitality is just the cherry on the icing on the cake! "

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Heidi - and lovely to have you back the studio following last year's sculpture workshop. Both your pieces were quite different from each other, but you used the same colour tones, so they would still act as a pair. Fabulous work! Jo x"

Carol Knott reviewed: Slate mosaic workshop at Jo Garden Art

"I started the day thinking I couldn’t do this but quickly & with Jo’s expert guidance I created two lovely wall hangings that my friends have admired. Jo creates a lovely atmosphere for the course. There is lots of laughter in the group & mutual support. Truly fab ! Thank you Jo x"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Carol - both your slate wall sculptures were gorgeous. Lovely colour spikes to tone with the beautiful slate, I know you were apprehensive at the start, but delighted the process quickly changed that and you loved the day and the final pieces of art you created. Jo xx"

Vivien Turner reviewed: Slate mosaic workshop at Jo Garden Art

"The slate mosaic workshop is inspirational. Right from the beginning Jo made us very welcome, explained the process, gave a clear demonstration and explained where the beautiful slates had come from. Wonderful coloured glass is also there to tempt. The mosaics develop as you build them up in a delightful organic way and all of us had two amazing pieces of art to take home."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much for this lovely review Vivien 🤗. Such a fabulous workshop to run and its wonderful how different everyone's work turned out! Your river flow was gorgeous which ever way up you decide to display it. I know you enjoyed it so much, you now wish to make a larger piece of work. As you have been to one and understand the process, you are welcome to return to another and make a large piece rather than the small ones. I look forward to seeing you again, Jo xx"

Dawn reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"Had a great weekend with Jo, Andy and my fellow sculptors. Jo is very welcoming, well organised and hospitable, gave clear demonstrations and lots of support, giving everyone the confidence to complete some genius works of art. Beautiful surroundings despite the slightly grey January weather. It was so exciting to see the wonderful armature first thing, a work of art in it's own right so I couldn't go wrong. Great value, inspiration and encouragement, thank you!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Dawn 😄 - I just loved your water spouting gargoyle, and keeping Andy's steel curved armature spine showing above the plasterwork was brilliant! I cannot wait to see a photo of it in-situ. Fabulous work in such a limited timeframe - well done. Jo xx"

Aunya reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"I had a fabulous time at the two day workshop, it was the first time I'd tried anything like this and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jo took us through each step in the process explaining and guiding as we went along. She offered tips and tweaks to help us get the most out of our time. It was a fun and informative couple of days and Jo made us feel so welcome. I purchased a small hare kit as a gift whilst I was down there and it looks great, includes absolutely everything needed and am looking forward to seeing what gets produced. Thank you Jo! "

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Aunya! So glad you enjoyed the workshop and your first experience in sculpting. Your large 'with attitude' hare was gorgeous and I expect it is now settled in pride of place in your garden. I hope your gift of one of my kits goes down well and something wonderful is created. Jo xx"

Angie Claxton reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"After completing a 1 day hare workshop (a gift) back in the summer I was inspired to do a larger sculpture and had become fascinated by the ‘stack of people’ Jo had in her studio which would fit in with my various other abstract people ornaments around the house….only this one would be made by me! So this became a present to myself! Jo is an amazing host and tutor and the two days are fun and rewarding with endless cuppas and snacks. In fact it flies by! Jo guides you every step of the way and will suggest any alterations she thinks may be needed, ie ratio of head to body of said character etc. We did laugh when we realised that the ‘guy’ at the bottom of my stack was looking up the skirt of the ‘lady’ above him, so his head was soon altered to look ahead instead…it’s those sort of things that will bring a smile to you again and again when you relook at your masterpiece! An absolutely fantastic workshop in a great studio and beautiful setting with a great host (and hubby Andy who helps out) which I would thoroughly recommend to anyone……… I was an un-artistic beginner after all! "

Jo Garden Art responded:

"It was a pleasure having you back in the studio for a Two Day workshop Angie 🤗. Those little people in the stack sculpture soon come to life and start their mischief! Naughty base man and his peeping eyes 😆. So glad I could assist in finding your artistic side - we all have one! Jo xxx "

Geraldine reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"I did a two day course which was a present from my husband. I sculpted our dog, Hector and I was very pleased with the finished product. Jo is a patient and skillful teacher and learning the new skills was very tiring the first day, but SO rewarding. Sculpted Hector has made himself at home inside, and come the Spring, he's looking forward to playing outside! I would recommend this course (and Jo's excellent make at home kits; I also purchased a large hare kit) to anyone looking for something a bit different."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Geraldine 😄. Hector was lovely to see evolve over the two days - well done! He can go outside to play a week or so after the workshop, so if he would like some cold weather, it will not harm. Enjoy making your kits and please do not hesitate to come back to me if you have any questions. Jo xxx"
