Tina Thornton reviewed: Slate mosaic workshop at Jo Garden Art

"Wow. Another fantastic two days under the tuition of Jo Had one day making two small pieces of slate art before returning for a second day to make a larger piece My brain was whirling with the amazing array of slate and decorative items - I felt like a child let loose in a sweet shop! As always, Jo was knowledgeable, friendly and reassuring in her guidance Already booked for next year to do another large piece"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"How wonderful you enjoy these slate workshops so much Tina! They are very addictive and as each piece you make can be completely different due to the array of materials, you can create art for anywhere in the house or garden. Looking forward to seeing you again next year, Jo xx"

Liz reviewed: Box making weekend in Cumbria

"This was a brilliant weekend. Mark is an excellent teacher and managed our small groups varied skill set brilliantly. I knew virtually nothing about woodwork at the start of the weekend and learnt a lot about the use of basic everyday tools and how to use the bigger bits of machinery. Mark was an ever watchful guide allowing me to complete each task myself but always there to prevent disasters! I felt I had a lot of choice about wood type, shape and design of my box and as a result I am delighted and proud of my finished piece. A perfect, good value course which exceeded my expectations. Thank you"

"Aaron's blacksmithing course was excellent. I had a really great time learning how to make coat hooks and a poker. Luckily there were just the two of us on the day and we had lots of chat throughout the day about the forge and blacksmithing, the time flew just by. Aaron was a really friendly teacher, who has a wealth of knowledge and experience who was patient and stepped into help when needed. I would definitely recommend, and would like to book again at some point!"

"I’ve recently done this master class course. It was absolutely brilliant. Joy is a kind, talented and patient teacher and generously shared her years of experience so I could create one of these gorgeous glass pieces. This is a truly immersive course, and along with Joy’s excellent tutoring it left me feeling really confident to try new courses. Whether you are new to this art or a professional this course is an absolute must you won’t be disappointed "

"I attended this course with my mum after receiving a voucher for my birthday. We had a wonderful day and were amazed by what we were able to produce. Jo was so welcoming and patient; her enthusiasm was infectious and she was incredibly generous with her knowledge. Mum and I were both very proud of what we made, and our jewellery has been admired by both friends and family. We intend to return for another course in the future and would recommend this course to anyone looking to try something new. "

Sally and Wendy reviewed: Furzie's Needle Felt Workshop - Somerset

"We had an inspirational day yesterday at Michelle's workshop. We arrived as novices and left as improvers.... Michelle was extremely patient (and was very happy to spend additional time beyond the planned finish time) and clearly very experienced and knowledgeable and very happy to share her expertise. Her workshop was calm and inviting and our lunch was lovely as was our adhoc visit to the smokery on site. Thank you Michelle - a brilliant workshop and we are proud of our unique creations which without your guidance and patience would not have been possible. We look forward to showing off our masterpieces. Wendy & Sally - from Bedfordshire."

Fiona reviewed: Textile landscape workshop in Dorset

"I loved this course! It was so inspiring. Imogen demonstrated techniques, showed us examples of her own and former students' work. I came back yesterday and have already got the sewing machine out today. Imogen was a great teacher, knowing when to leave us to have a go and when to give more direction. Everything we needed was provided, including a large variety of suitable fabrics. Spacious hall with plenty of room for each student. Good directions and lots of free parking. Also...tea and homemade cake! "

Imogen Bittner Studio responded:

"It was lovely to work with you Fiona and I am so pleased you have continued today! Can’t wait to see your finished piece. Best wishes, Imogen"

Caroline Smith reviewed: Slate mosaic workshop at Jo Garden Art

"This was my second slate mosaic workshop and this time I chose to make a large piece. There was a huge choice of beautiful materials, even more than last year. Just so tempting. I needed reminding of all the techniques so I was happy to watch Jo’s demonstration before embarking on my piece. She was around to give support and advice when needed - and to keep us going with cups of tea, coffee and Kitkats. My large piece was done by lunchtime and so I spent the afternoon session on a small one. I’m delighted with both and am already looking at next year’s dates."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Caroline! It was lovely having you back in the studio to make the larger slate piece. I was very impressed you completed it so quickly and had time to make another gorgeous piece of art to go with it. I do hope to see you again next year. Jo xx"

Alison Rose reviewed: An Introduction To Modern 3D Raised Embroidery Workshop

"I really enjoyed my half day course. I would have been happy to have had longer to practise more stitches. It’s so stimulating to spend time with other people doing the same craft. And also to hear the ideas and thought processes behind Annie’s creativity. A craft is not just about the mechanics but also about the choices made philosophy behind them. I’ve come away feeling newly stimulated and ready for new projects."
