Viv reviewed: Lino cutting and block printing in New Romney, Kent

"Absolutely brilliant day! It went too quickly because I was enjoying every moment. From the start, Yolanda and John created a welcoming environment that immediately put me at ease. The teaching was clear and encouraging, which made me feel confident trying new techniques. Amazing environment, teaching and food really stood out — nothing was too much trouble and everything had been carefully prepared to make the day run smoothly. The facilities were excellent and the refreshments throughout the day kept the energy up, while the lunch was both tasty and relaxed, giving us a chance to chat with others on the course. I could see how much thought had gone into making sure we had the best experience possible, and it all deserved 5 stars. By the end of the session, I felt proud of what I had created and left feeling inspired to keep going with block printing at home. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you Yolanda and John."

"Received a warm welcome by Kate n Giles. Giles is exceptionally talented n at one with wood, he is a brilliant teacher, who goes at your pace in a relaxed n v pleasant atmosphere, there's no pressure. Kate is lovely n the studio overlooks fields. Was taught about knife safety n also many techniques, which I applied to making my own pendant. I am proud of my achievement, after never using a knife for this before, n started to finish it off today, with the knife bought from there. Giles is v patient n thoughtful when teaching, which was greatly appreciated. The workshop was fun too, n he is extremely knowledgeable. I was inspired by Giles n his teaching for future projects. Would throughly recommend. "

Steph Mackay reviewed: Group Bookings : Flowers and Resin Tray or Wall Art

"This is such a lovely course! I found this such a peaceful way to spend an evening after work. I am not overly creative, but this allowed me to make a really beautiful item for my home. You are able to pick from a beautiful selection of hand pressed flowers to make your own design to set in resin, and walk through all the steps really clearly. Everyone who sees my tray thinks it's professionally made! The River Shop is located in a beautiful creative space by the river, which is a joy to visit too! I highly recommend."

Steve Burke reviewed: Beginners 1-day 1-2-1 woodturning workshop for 1 person

"I had a 1-2-1 wood turning course with Simon. What an amazing day. The workshop was a great space. I asked Simon if I could take some photos for when I build my own. Simon is an amazing guy. So informative and patient. He explained each technique in an uncomplicated way. The day was very “hands on”. The techniques learned in the morning were put to good use for the two projects later on. The beech honey dipper and oak bowl turned out much better than expected. I’m really proud of them. Chatting with Simon over lunch and numerous cups of tea was so interesting, to hear of his history and experiences of woodturning ( amongst other things) It was a great day and I will definitely be pursuing my interest in woodturning. Simon’s follow up email with advice, photos and work notes ended the course off superbly. I will gladly recommend Simon to any person interested in woodturning, or the other crafts that he and Louise hold at their workshop. Cheers Simon "
