Freddy reviewed: Round Shopper Willow Basket

"I attended this course with mum as I love wood working and she loves crafting so a happy medium to spend time together. Both total novices in basketry. Despite only having one working hand that day, I left with a basket a foraged apple would not be embarrassed to call home. Thanks Suz for your teaching, seemingly eternal patience, coffee, biscuits and mega tunes! Definitely recommend!"

Sarah reviewed: Upcycling Furniture With Paint & Fabric Decoupage Workshop experience: Spend Two Days with ReVamp Boutique

"I have just completed a very enjoyably two day course with Sarah, learning the skills to paint and decoupage a piece of furniture. Sarah is very knowledgeable and was great at teaching different techniques. I am really pleased with the end result of my piece and I am now feeling confident to tackle a new project on my own! A delicious lunch was provided on both days and I would highly recommend this workshop. "

John reviewed: English longbow making weekend in the heart of Nailsworth Gloucestershire

"What a great experience and very interesting. I have no particular skills beneficial in the making of an English Longbow, but with Gavin’s and Tom’s expert help I have created, what I think, a thing of beauty. Lots of banter, bad jokes and laughs. Highly recommended."

Esme reviewed: Rucksack in a day workshop

"I had a great time doing this workshop, and am so pleased with the finished product. I didn’t have any previous experience working with leather and only very minimal sewing experience but Rosanna was on hand to help at every stage. The workshop is a busy day, with lots to learn and lots of different steps, but it was so satisfying to see the bag coming together and go home with the finished article. For anyone who wants to do a course where you can enjoy the process but also take home something you can actually use everyday, I would really recommend this course. "

Rosanna Clare responded:

"Thank you Esme for your lovely review - so gla dyou enjoyed the day - I hope you enjoy using your rucksack!"

"I really enjoyed this course - it was a very satisfying day and I'm really happy with how my spoon turned out! Robert is a great tutor, and creates a fun and supportive learning environment while equipping you with the skills to crack on and bring your own vision for your spoon to life. Woodville Woods was a lovely location too, it feels like a proper wee oasis in the city (with very handy public transport links!)"

JC reviewed: Bespoke Contemporary Fine Art Encaustic Wax Workshop.

"My daughter bought me a voucher for a full day workshop with Lyn in her studio. It was a surprise present and I was very excited as it is not a subject I know anything about and was a really unusual and thoughtful gift. I took up art when I retired, mainly acrylics and watercolour, and I also teach community art classes in Dorset. I have been on many workshops but never one like this. Lyn was extremely welcoming (had made cake!) and a caring person. I was fascinated by her artisan studio which is rammed with every conceivable colour of wax and lots of her work. She was extremely generous with materials and information and took me through the whole process step by step. It was a fascinating day and a fantastic present. I now appreciate how knowledgeable Lyn is on this subject - one of the top in the UK - and also how committed she is to educating people worldwide to understand and enjoy this process. I would totally recommend anyone to go on one of her workshops.”"

Contemporary Encaustic Wax Workshop with Lyn Kirkland responded:

"What a generous review JC, thank you very much! I hope that you will be able to use some of what you have learned in your own mixed-media practice going forward. Take care Lyn "

Jan reviewed: Beginners sewing - Tote Bag and Zipped Bag - Day Workshop - Worcester

"I had a lovely, relaxing day improving my sewing machine skills and chatting to the other crafting students. Judi was brilliant at explaining and demonstrating the techniques we needed to make a lined tote bag and zippered makeup bags. She also answered a variety of questions and gave us hints and tips for other projects. I’ve made 4 makeup bags since in a variety of fabrics using Judi’s clear instructions. I totally recommend this course and will definitely sign up for another class soon. "

She is a very patient and attentive tutor and we left having made a wonderful piece of art which we could not have ever imagined making on our own. Eimear reviewed: Archive, DO NOT LIST

"We had the fantastic day doing the beginner blacksmithing course! Alex is so welcoming and friendly and clearly passionate about what he does. The day was fairly physical but he was more than happy to help out when I started to struggle, which meant I could finish all three items. I would totally recommend this course to anyone, I had absolutely 0 experience or knowledge of blacksmithing before and still made 3 pretty good pieces!"

Maureen Young reviewed: Mosaic and Glass Art 2-day Course

"I attended Maggie’s weekend mosaic workshop (prettyrubbishmosaics.com) which I thoroughly enjoyed. She is an excellent teacher and took the small group of us through the process of creating a mosaic step by step - Safety, tools, cutting techniques, grouting etc and some of the various mosaic pieces eg glass, pottery, tiles etc that can be used were all covered. We had access to huge amounts of Maggie’s supplies to use in our projects and we all left happy with what we had achieved. I left feeling inspired to try my hand at it at home and would like to attend further sessions to build on what I learned at the weekend. For anyone thinking of taking this workshop I can thoroughly recommend it. Thanks Maggie. "

Pretty Rubbish Mosaics responded:

"Thank you Maureen for your kind words. I absolutely love your Christmas landcape and it was great to watch it evolve. I do hope you will come back as there are so many possibilities for you to create something totally different next time . "

Sam stox reviewed: Pick & Mix Glass Fusing Taster Sessions (Open Group)

"I had such a lovely morning doing this course, Dawn was really clear and concise in her instructions and her collection of glass for decorating purposes was really well stocked. She was patient and helpful all day and made a decent cuppa to boot! I'll definitely be returning in the new year"

Dawn Turner Designs responded:

"Hi Sam - thank you for your lovely review, and glad the cuppa was okay (my son would heartily disagree!) - most of the work is now fired and cooling, just whichever pieces need slumping, I will be in touch as soon as I have sorted them all out - can't wait to open the kiln!"

Luke A reviewed: Beginners half-day 1-2-1 woodturning workshop for 1 person

"I did the beginners half-day 1-2-1 woodturning workshop with Simon and absolutely loved it. The whole experience was brilliant from start to finish. His garden workshop is spotless, well equipped, and so well organised (I’m seriously jealous of his setup). Simon’s a great teacher. He explains everything clearly and makes you feel at ease straight away. I made a honey dibber and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. He even took photos throughout the session, which was a nice touch and meant I had something to show off later. Small details like that make a big difference. I also appreciated that he remembered I was gluten free and had biscuits ready for tea. It’s those thoughtful touches that make the day stand out. Highly recommend it to anyone thinking of giving woodturning a go."

Julia G reviewed: Blacksmithing Experience Day - Introduction

"This was an incredible experience! Giles is incredibly knowledgeable, talented, and friendly. We were able to learn techniques in forge management, heating, hammering, twisting, scroll work, and more. Leaving the course I felt equipped to recreate these projects if I ever found myself in a forge again. It was great to see how over the course of the day me and my classmates skills dramatically improved, and in the final hours our work was significantly more individual and confident. Looking at the objects I came home with, I can hardly believe I made them with my own hands. Highly recommend!!"

"Flatford Mill is a joy. Such an iconic building and landscape. The copper foil glass course tutor Claire was very helpful and knowledgeable. She explained all the techniques and processes clearly and safely. It was a very enjoyable day and has left me with the confidence to try some glass cutting on my own and with an idea of tools and equipment to buy."

Field Studies Council responded:

"Dear Christine, We are so please you enjoyed the day. All the angels made on the day were beautiful. Claire"
